I don't believe Liverpool's problems this season are solely down to Benitez. Yes, he picked the teams, but he (hopefully picked those who did the best in training and those players did not do the business when it mattered. I'll admit I know very little about managing a football team, but I'd have lost patience with most of them long before now and would have fielded the reserve team for one match, just to show the regulars that they aren't beyond dropping. |
Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Apparently, Tottenham Hotspurs have finished at least fourth in the Premier League. They have broken the so-called sky four, with Liverpool and Aston Villa not making the grade. I'd like to speak for all of the BritishExpats.com community and congratulate them on a wonderful season. Well done, Tottenham Hotspurs. Your success is our success.

Hats off to Harry, I dont think too many people would have predicted that at the start of the season, but they have been very good. A personal triumph for Gomes the goaly too after the beating he took at the start of his premiership career, and really satisfying to see so many English players in a successful team too.

Well done Spurs! Well played, and with lots of UK players and home grown talent and a "native" boss!!
It was good to see him get the ice bucket treatment! He seemed to take it on good humour. |

Or rather better. Average home crowd this year was 43,400 at St. James's, the fourth highest in the country.*

http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/e...cs/geordie.jpg Edit: In the interests of balance, the average crowd figures I was quoting are for home league games only. Liverpool & Chelsea might come out higher if European games were included. There don't seem to have many of those at St. James' last season. |
Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread
Come on you Spurs!!!!
Super chuffed- was wearing my Spurs shirt up the Statue of Liberty today. No one in NYC recognizes the significance of the Mighty Yids!!! Oh well...... |

That's a very old photograph. I've lost a lot of weight since then.
