Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

I am a Leeds fan, visited the club today and found that the manager this week had transfer listed the majority of the 1st team squad (11 players) the others are being encouraged to sign new contracts....It seems he is fed up of players playing to remain in the Championship, no motivation to be promoted to EPL because they would lose their job, considered not good enough to keep their job. I doubt I will recognise the squad next season, I am fortunate to visit on a regular basis, if he gets it wrong, we will be down and he is retiring anyway.

Will be interesting to see how much bates pours into the club to replace players, to him it is a business. Simple.

My condolences, but you of all people should realize the dangers of spending big money in anticipation of Champions league revenue.

My foot in the door at Leeds came about by my knowing Simon Morris, now doing time at HM pleasure, as he was their accountant during the difficult times, though i am sure he was only doing what he was told and he did not buy the fish! Or for that matter, some of the players that we continued to pay for several seasons after they left the club. Plenty of playrs got rich on a dream.

Have NU not played CL, what year were you runners up to MU, the keegan days I recall...did that not give you CL access?

Don't bother replying, just looked it up. Good old wiki..

Budweiser FA Cup winner? FFS. You should be even more ashamed.

Or perhaps we all should. Budweiser FFS?

Well done to Chelsea they deserved the win (they scored more goals). Shame we let the goals slip in the first half and a damn pity we didn't dominate like we did in the second half. Too much to make up and Chelsea did enough.

Unlike the League Cup, which has regularly been giving the sponsor's name such as Carling, the FA Cup will always only ever be called that. It's not the Budweiser or anything else FA Cup!

save ? ;) I suppose it was as the result was in the paper.

Back on the EPL it has certainly been more entertaining this year I feel with a lot more teams in contention.

I've been biting alot of nails.

Much still to be decided on the final day.

And then the 4th Champions League Spot will not be decided until May 17th.

That's out of order Mike.

I would never wish ill on another Football Club.

I don't hope the Toon lose. I would like to however see a City win as much as I would love to see a Norwich win and also a victory for Bayern Munich on the 19th.

Did anyone see the salary statistics article in the Gruniad yesterday? Interesting viewing.

I'm sure Novo knows that this is all fun spirited stuff, JM. Poor results all round this weekend - unless you're a City fan.
