Should I care about that? Likely not, they're equally unacceptable to the human race.

It's more about whether the Toon is really ready for a Champions thingy at the moment. All signs are good except for the FCB, who might well flog off the cheap talent (Ba, Ben Arfa, Tiote even Cisse) and as ever fail to reinvest.

Existential angst around here,

Easy for me. Hope they lose and Spurs win ... But I would say that, eh? ;)

As I've said, that wouldn't bother me at all. If that's what happens I'll send you some bitter aloes to stop you biting your fingernails to the quick until May 19th.

That's out of order Mike.

I would never wish ill on another Football Club.

I don't hope the Toon lose. I would like to however see a City win as much as I would love to see a Norwich win and also a victory for Bayern Munich on the 19th.

Did anyone see the salary statistics article in the Gruniad yesterday? Interesting viewing.

Existential angst around here,

A: There is more money to be made with a decent run in the C-L, and another top 4 finish, so the mass sell off probably wont happen if they do qualify.

B: If he does sell them, wasnt the FCB the one who hired the people who found Ba, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Cisse etc, and signed the cheques to bring them in in the first place, so its a bit harsh to chastise him too much. He essentially cashed in on Andy Carrol for half a decent team, so maybe, just maybe, he or more likely someone around him does have a clue?

Mind you, he's never going to be mister popular on Tyneside, but he could be a lot worse.

My money is on a draw, Man U to sneak the title, and Chelsea to win the C-L against all odds, if only to piss off whoever does finish 4th.

On an alternative note I predict 3-1 for Chelsea on Saturday. They will go two up, Liverpool will grab one back and then Chelsea will kill them off with a late Drogba/Torres final nail in the coffin of Liverpool's season.

I hope I'm wrong.

Im thinking 1:0 with a late Torres goal and Liverpool "robbed" by the woodwork at least twice. Its been that sort of season.

*Liverpool having missed a penalty.

Both of those are likely.

Of those Tiote & Ben Arfa came in before Carroll left, Ba cost nothing and Cisse about 10M. There's still 25M in the Carroll kitty.

Or at least there was before people dipped their fingers in the pie possibly.

If you own the club, you are taking what is rightfully yours. A profit on the business. Buying and selling players is part of that business.

I agree of course. Moreover the Toon, aside from never winning anything, have something in common with the Leafs. The stadium will be packed whatever is put on the field.

That would be the reason why it is an excellent business. Most clubs are envious of the support you get, it is to be applauded.

Though you wont find Leaf fans prone to exposing their bare chests on national TV as much as the Geordies do
Several of them doing it again against Chelsea the other day. Those six packs came from drinking quite a few six packs.

It wasn't the righteousness or not of doing it I was pointing out, but the actual fact that the cash may not be there anymore and therefore not available.
