England captain: Who should replace the retired Steven Gerrard for Roy Hodgson's team? - Telegraph

Rooney in the short term I expect... too hard for a goalie to exert a lot of influence otherwise Hart would get it.

In the long term I can see Henderson captaining both Liverpool and England. He was U21 captain for much of his time in that team.

Sad to see Gerrard retire, although its understandable. He was a great servant to his country and will be hard to replace.

The modern Captain seems to exert little influence on the team so I do not think it a big deal.

I think looking at the list Hart and Cahill are the only two who will hold a consistent place in the England team over the next several years based on competition for their positions.

I won't lose sleep on who ever Roy picks.

Liverpool to make bid for Southampton supporters

Liverpool FC is to continue its gradual acquisition of Southampton football club by making a bid for the fans of the south coast team

After securing three first teamers from Southampton in Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, and Rickie Lambert, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his desire to strengthen Liverpool’s Southampton contingent even further.

The Liverpool manager explained, “I know the Southampton fans could do a job for us, and we’re spending so much time down there anyway I thought we might as well try to bring a few back with me.”

“We got Champions League commitments to think about, so going to matches every week is going to be expensive for our current fans – this new blood will help keep the gate receipts ticking over on a cold winters day against Burnley.”

“People will say I’ve got an unhealthy fascination with all things Southampton, but I would say they’re wrong – my obsession is perfectly healthy.”

“My request to have white stripes added to our home kit is just a coincidence.”

“Look, we’ve got the Suarez money burning a hole in our pocket, and what better way to spend it than by luring a few more fans in our direction, and helping us reach our aim of being the best supported team in the league.”

“After all, throwing money at the problem seems to have worked wonders for Man City.”

Rumour has it the whole club could be bought for £160m. Would have been easier for Liverpool to buy the whole lot and sell on what they didnt want to keep!

He said Liverpool, not Spurs. Thus deformity not required. :p
