At the start of the match, I think the commentator said "Pardew has only won one of the last seven against Sunderland.

That'll be one in eight now, then.

First Newcastle manager to lose four in a row against their neighbours according to the radio.

I like this quote "A new era of respect between Newcastle and Sunderland fans dawned as the Tyne-Wear derby was dominated by an atmosphere of goodwill." I think someone at the Chronicle has been at the Bristol Cream.....

No, there's something in that. Do you remember that Malay airliner that was shot down over Ukraine? There were 2 Toon supporters on board who were on the way to watch preseason matches in NZ.

The NU Supporter's Club organized a whip round for the two families and the Sunderland Supporter Club joined in wholeheartedly.

Since then relations between the two groups of supporters have been quite different.

Still, **** Christmas.

Things could be changing: I haven't heard of any police horse being on the receiving end of right hooks and apparenltly there are rumours of working phone booths down at the Bigg Market.

There were three separate minute-long rounds of applause by the attendance.

One with respect to the two fans who died, one for the player who is recovering from testicular cancer and one signifying the money the fans jointly raised for the families of those who died in the plane crash.

In the other match, Skrtel became godlike.

It was a magnificent victory. The Lane was rocking!

Celebrations involved half a dozen pints of beer and some Tandoori by Wimbledon Train station.

Best New Years Day Ever!

Well you certainly picked a great match to attend. Hope the tandoori was good. Did you finish off the evening at a rub and tug? ;)

After 8 pints I'm any bodies. Luckily alcohol is a defense mechanism that obliterates the libido and puts one to sleep.

Also no idea if there is a rub and tug in Wimbledon. First time there in 5 or 6 years....
