I don't give a naff about the title or who goes down. One tends to succumb to the onset of myopia at the sharp end of the season. Just hope the scum or the chavs drop some points on the way in.

Yes and no. I don't care who goes down unless it's the Toon.

I hope Villa don't do something unexpected on Monday.

The Benny Hill theme tune plays in my head every time Liverpool get some possession. Sounds insane but it really makes Liverpool fun to watch

Suarez is so misunderstood. In South America it is an accepted part of their culture to bite other people.

Fined by the club straight away and rightly so, await the lengthy ban and again, rightly so.

Ok so I have kept fairly quiet on this thread this season and refrained from slagging off other teams
So its now done and dusted Premier League Champions and number 20.
Not a classic season by any means but I still have to laugh at the ABUs on this site or others stating that Man Utd are just an average team this season.
If we are average then what does this make your team:confused:

OK we bought the title AGAIN with signing RVP, Buttner, Kagawa, Powell.
Zaha, Henriquez and Santangelo have signed but have yet to arrive.

Giggs, Scholes and Rio thought to be past it.
De Gea a liability in goal, Rooney overhyped.

TBH I think they will be a better team next season if they can stay injury free.

Every title is a deserved title who ever wins it..if you finish top at the end of 38 games or bottom you get exactly what you deserve.

Fair point, but they also played attractive football which is what I was getting at.

So Suarez receives a 10 match ban and has until midday Fri 26 April to appeal it.
I wont comment if its too severe or not enough however I do have to laugh at the ABUs complaining about Cantona.
Errr Cantona got an 9 MONTH ban for what he did.
Keane was banned for 9 games and fined 150K. No legs were broken in that tackle.
Im certainly not defending them but this was the 2nd time Suarez has bitten an opponent plus the alleged punch on a player and lets say suspicious stampings on other players makes you wonder if his elevator goes all the way to the top floor.
Accept the ban and get treatment. As a footballer he has skills but has some form of problem that needs to be dealt with.

Cantona didn't exactly have an unblemished record before the kung fu incident. He'd been in trouble so many times in France he'd run out of clubs to play for.

I remember Duncan Ferguson going to prison for a head butt. I think that would have been appropriate for Cantona also as well as Suarez - whatever the normal criminal proceedings would lead to. I can't remember - did Cantona do community service?

I think Evra's recent "performance" doesn't do him or MUFC a great deal of credit either.

Unfortunately incidents on a football pitch dont always get treated as a criminal offence as opposed to a Friday night out with the lads would.
Most of these incidents would qualify under assault charges but rather than the police deal with them the FA steps in.
In some cases the FA punishment is greater than any court proceedings.
How many convicted of an assault get a 150k fine?
If the Evra incident is the one showing him biting the false limb then yes he was a prat but Evra didn't bring on the false limb with intent it was thrown on the pitch from the crowd and he reacted albeit funny to some and disgusting to others.
Lets be honest most footballers are not educated geniuses or are at the top of the IQ pile;)

Generally agree with those comments. Interesting that Defoe just got a yellow for this but on the whole...suck it up, it's your second time ffs, didn't you learn the first time ?

Greenhill Apr 24th 2013 4:33 am

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

Defoe can be a real little shithead at times. I recall him doing a crazy sliding two-footed challenge on a goalkeeper (can't remember who he was playing for and against but it might have been an England match) one time, with what appeared to be intent to harm. I believe he also did a similar challenge on another goal keeper and managed to break his arm.

I take the view that Defoe is a lucky boy for getting away with all this. However, with the FA's ability to deal with these types of issues retrospectively, hopefully next time he'll be caught and be dealt with appropriately.

Nibbles rules unchanged.
More to the point that says they won't take retrospective action if the referee has seen the incident is also unchanged. Defoe was booked and therefore got away with it just like Callum McManaman and Sergio Aguero in the last few weeks.

Now, this is proper entertainment. It's the final minute and a penalty is awarded. Whichever team scores will secure promotion to the Championship (to play alongside the likes of Notts Forest, Birmingham, Leeds and Newcastle next season).

I personally do not think that result in particular had anything to do with Pardew. The players just didn't turn up. Liverpool played well, but, and it's a big but, the NUFC defence was non-existent at times which allowed Liverpool to waltz the goals in.
