United's inflatables hopes beached

POLICE have deflated United fans' hopes of having a ball at Anfield on Sunday.
The table-topping Reds go into the clash with confidence high, while Liverpool are in crisis after four defeats on the bounce.
But the city famous for producing Jimmy Tarbuck and Ken Dodd won't be allowing any humour at their expense after banning beach balls from the ground.

From: Blackpool for now, Ontario calling!!

Hi fellow football supporters.
Is this thread only open to EPL and Toon fans? Just wondering if you would welcome fans from other lowly championship clubs. I have enjoyed having the mighty Toon visit us and am looking forward to getting the other 3 points next year!!!

.......United lost to them twice last season.....

Just watched the Liverpool Man Utd match repeated on Satanta today. As a neutral, Liverpool were very flattered by the score and fortunate to get away with a lot of persistent fouling. Mind you Berbatov and Valencia are very average and it was noticable Man Utd didn't make anything of quite a few free kicks just outside the penalty area.

yes i can, utd were poor, valencia should have scored, rooney clearly still has not recovered from injury, and we got our best defender sent off. liverpool capitalized, torres' goal was excellent, last goal was a giveaway really, but still liverpool won, just like they did at home and away last year and they still won nothing.

I've stayed off this thread since the disastrous end to last season, but Fat Southern Bastard Mike Ashley has exceeded himself in alienating Toon fans by trying to sell "naming rights" for Saint James' Park.
The man needs an early grave.
NUFC have played there for 108 years and now the tw*t wants to make a few bucks by calling it "Tim Horton's Stadium" or whatever the crassest possible equivalent in the UK may be these days.
The bugger knows the price of everything but the worth of nothing. He's got to go.
Oh.... Howay the lads!!!

i have to say, i can't imagine seeing old trafford called anything else so i share your sentiments. however, i wonder if i would feel the same if someone came along and could square away a lot of the clubs debt just to change a name. arsenal seems to have fared ok.

serious question. if the naming of the stadium allowed a massive influx of funds into the club, which lets just say for the sake of argument actually went to debt/new players/academy/benefit of the club not any individual, and consequently saw you promoted, would it be worth losing the history?

For Champions League games, UEFA calls it the Arsenal Stadium, as Emirates isn't a Champion's League sponsor and not allowed to be named in any official UEFA capacity, which is a stupid rule from them.

Good luck against Sheffield. You'll soon be back at the top of the Championship.
Yes we have Rae, but there were (and still is) a section of fans who believe that it should still be called Ashburton Grove which is what it was first called.
