Things that make you feel old

Funny, that's exactly what I said last week in the "feeling adult" thread...
Guess it comes to us all.

I spent about an hour earlier today reminiscing the 90's by watching 90's music videos on youtube. That was a good decade for music.
I remember hearing this song backpacking around Thailand in 1994

Funny thing is, one of the nightclubs in the town I live in has this event couple of times a month called "nothing but the 90s" not sure if you were into any of the dance classics of that era? Anyway a group of us....all in our 40s and some even 50s thought we would give it a go...and have a trip down memory lane...
We walked in the place and found it was fully of 20 somethings early 20 somethings at that.....and they just stared at us....the look they gave said something like "what are old guys doing here?" To which I thought...."what are YOU wippersnappers doing here!? many wern't even born when these tunes were playing!"
Needless to say we all felt very old, stayed for one drink and left! lol Cant even have a trip down memory lane now! Pah!! kids these days!

Most people's 'era' is from the age of about 13 until about 25 which for me is 1977 - 1989. After about age 25 it gets more and more effort to keep up or indeed care about what is popular/on the charts etc. As well, many have collected enough of a collection that the urge to buy the latest chart music rapidly wanes....unless you are Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh or Elton John..three over 50's/60's who still keep up with the latest chart hits and profess to be interested in it all.

Making an on-line purchase and having to enter your year of birth in a drop-down box. Scrolling..........., and scrolling................., and scrolling.

Unfortunately the 90's flew by for me. Early 90's I was in my late teens and too young for raves.
By the mid 90's I was backpacking around the world and missed the raves that my mates were going to.
I was married in 1995, my Son was born in 1996 so couldn't get out to raves or clubs for the next few years.
By the time the 2000's came around the rave scene was over.
Looking back I really regret not going to at least one illegal rave, judging from the video below, they looked fantastic.

I looked in the mirror and saw something that I didn't quite recognise, so I've decided to stop wearing jeans, apart from when doing DIY stuff.
How the heck do I dress in order to get to the store to buy something other than jeans?

Sometimes, of course, it depends on the mirror and lighting. Some mirrors are more flattering than others, I've noticed!

Delving further this evening I stumbled upon step-daughter's dressing-up cupboard where I discovered a - still pristinely white - 45 year old pair of loon pants. These I have had to discount as apparel for the forthcoming shopping expedition - no pockets, so nowhere for the 'phone or credit cards. Did I really have no money when I was 16?
No luck in finding the much loved lime-green corduroy dungarees that I was convinced that I'd bequeathed to her, they would have been perfect for this expedition, more pockets than one can shake a stick at.
Moving back downstairs, I discovered some suit trousers; grey pin-stripe with just a hint of flare. The pockets were ok, but no idea where the rest of the suit is to be found.
I may have to hang on a few months and venture out in shorts...

These modern bands that I haven’t heard of or listened to can’t hold a candle to the bands of my youth.
