You mean like vegetables, that sort of thing? Yes, I do. The crisper is full of veg including spinach and 3 kinds of lettuce, peppers and carrots, tomatoes, onions. Usually contains cucumbers, nappa cabbage and daikon too but used it up the other day. Without greens and vegetables I couldn't make salads or stir-fries, or even a BLT. I don't eat as much fresh fruit as I could, and should probably incorporate more into some dishes. Apples used to be a standard ingredient in my curried beef and green peppers. Why do you ask; are you genuinely curious or are you just drunk and feeling chatty?

From scratch vegetarian chilli - one of the best ones I've made.. in lieu of meat I used finely chopped portabella mushroom (some dried for a different texture), sauteed some chopped onion and grated carrot in 1 tsp of extra virgin olive oil, added 5 large cloves of garlic, crushed and diced, one green chilli finely chopped then a tiny bit more oil in the corner of the pan to cook out some black cumin seed and ground cumin, added chopped low sodium tomato (canned, cheated!) and 3/4 of a can of no sodium white kidney beans (rinsed), a squeeze of tomato paste to thicken slightly, one grind of sea salt (I'm allowing myself very small amounts now) and then a dollop of sirachi to give it a bit more kick and one small square of 80% dark chocolate for richness. It was so good.. and healthy too! Beans Beans, good for your heart - the more you eat, the more you fart! :D

Sounds lovely. Can you get Quorn where you are? We almost always use Quorn mince in chili these days, it works very well indeed.

Last night I made myself some Pimientos de Padron... just blistered them in a very hot pan, then a sprinkle of sea salt... lovely. Had a nice tomato/onion/coriander chopped salad to go with the peppers.

I'm a recent Quorn 'convert', using the 'mince' in chilis, 'chunks' in curries, 'boules' in tomato sauce + pasta. Works a treat. :thumb:

No, sadly, Quorn is not available in Canada. :(

I do miss the old frozen "loose" veggie mince (soya protein) I used to buy in big bags from the supermarket, back in the day.. was so easy to use. The nearest to it is veggie ground round but it's over processed, filled with additives and sodium and I can't use it.. I might order some base TVP/TSP from Amazon or Bulk Barn and see if that will work in a similar way. It's not that I don't like meat, just a bit restricted on what meat I can eat now, so I'm experimenting a little... :)

Salmon en Croute. Just the hi-liner type portions wrapped in puff pastry.

I was planning on using some leftover cream cheese but it was fungusified. :frown: So I used Brie. Very nice but needed more cheese. I was just a bit reluctant to put too much expensive Brie in.

I understand a squirt of mustard helps too. Next time it'll be better.

Understood; when I bring home Brie or Camembert it usually has the big pink 50% Off sticker on it. Brie should be mild enough not to overpower the fish.

I don't think that came out as intended. ;)

Me too for the sticker, but there's a brand - Ziggy's maybe - that's $10 and I think that's pretty good value.

It's a forum glitch, and has to be edited out. Ziggy's or the PC house brand work for me. Once in a blue moon I'll find something fancier for half price and get it. About 5 years ago I got a big wheel of Camembert for half price and took it out carp fishing; the Englishmen I was with were enthusiastic! We'd do the tea and biscuits thing and G&T in the afternoons.

Fush and chups.

Breaded fish from our neighbour who gets it dirt cheap as the shapes are random and home made chips

First day of the diabetic friendly food regime.Curried lentil soup followed by grilled tuna 'steaks', a side vegie dish with red peppers, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes, and some steamed bok choy. I'll probably fart all night.

I've had air for my tea for the last three days. HID has just resorted to starving me. I can't even walk properly because I don't have much flesh on the back of my feet and sitting down is a nightmare because again, not much padding left. She's trying to kill me. It's kind of a turn on though, well, for the little time I've got left. :o

I'm in Belgium for work for a few days. Had a wander out last night looking for something to eat and ended up in a rather nice 'grand cafe' where I had steak-frites. As I've been living a bit like oink recently my body went into a bit of a frenzy at such wanton extravagance so I thought I may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, so I had a glass of red wine to go with it. Keith Richards, look out.
