Crackers and gorgonzola with a side serving of tomatoes soaked in olio and garlic

A grilled pork fillet, a piece of leftover roast veggie frittata and a green salad. A honking great wedge of chocolate cake to finish would have been nice, but you can't have everything

There must be something subliminal with BristolUK's post #1837

OH said that Sis and Brother-in-law were coming to "tea" yesterday, and I immediately thought of home made chicken pie.

Chicken pieces, mini pork boulettes, several rashers of crumbled crispy bacon, sautéed leeks in a chicken stock and cream sauce, turned into a blind-baked flaky pastry base, topped with another layer of egg-brushed flaky pastry. On the side, roast potatoes and steamed broccoli tossed in ground black pepper.

'twas an absolute winner. :egyptian:

Not surprised it was a winner, sounds extremely delicious!

Soupe aux Boulettes came to Canada with French fur traders, and remains a staple of Indian and Metis cooking, under the name Bullet Soup.

Interesting French connection. I didn't see that in CH or neighbouring France, but here in Flanders it's pretty much a staple. "Boulette" in Dutch is ... "Boulette". Soup of choice here for these is Tomato.

From @PaulSeesequasis:
"It's a bullet soup kind of afternoon

Apparently there is a Plains Cree word for bullet soup, pitikonikanâpoy (meatball soup), though I’ve never heard that and we just called it bullet soup like the Métis (from the French boulettes ‘little balls’.)"

It was good the next day too - hard to go wrong with a little olive oil, a little oregano, a touch of crushed chilis, garlic and a little wine. Those hot or mild Italian sausages are my go-to "instant meatballs" when I don't have any burger thawed out.
Tonight it's my co-worker's leftover pizza from Dominos and her sandwich she didn't eat. It's Domino's and therefore crap but I've had a long day and I don't have to cook it.

In the case of lasagne (the Italian way) indeed that's true- time for all those yummy flavours to develop. Also chilli con carne is much nicer the day after making.

It's Wing Wednesday at Earls, enough said. I still pinch myself every time I step out at the awesomeness of this place.

I had veggie balls. I didn't even know that vegetables had - never mind.

I was too lazy to make supper so thawed and cooked some shrimp, chilled it in the freezing compartment and had a shrimp cocktail. Even though I just bought a tray of chicken breasts I was steadfastly lazy, and microwaved a pasty, which was great. Is there a patron saint of the indolent?
edit: and then I microwaved one of the cheese ones... I have to make more of these things
