Concern about one issue doesn't preclude concern about the other. One can make a case that the Canadian approach of distributing refugees across the country, while not ideal for the refugees, is good for Canadians as three families on a Prairie are not likely to form a mob.

Slight concern about a small mistake that was quickly corrected is reasonable. Anything greater than that is....

In the UK also refugees are distributed around the country generally. Hopefully those in Middlesbrough will be particularly active on social media.

There are several problems with "distributing" migrants across Canada: lack of housing; no jobs; inadequate health care. Every day, thousands of Canadians are losing their jobs. The prospects of a migrant finding work, especially in small prairie communities are very poor. In Toronto, long-term residents of a hotel are being evicted to make room for migrants. One migrant says he can't find a house to rent - not surprising as he has 12 kids. Toronto dentists are asking for government funds because of the large number of severe dental problems among migrants. Migrants are given $10 a day for food for every person over the age of six and a one-time $50 for anyone under the age of six. Four kids, two adults = $60/day = $1800 a month. Canada has created a huge mess with this ill-conceived influx. It can't simply dump more and more migrants in its cities or try to send them to towns where there are no jobs or affordable housing.

Exactly as it should be. The genuine refugees are given refuge, the migrants are not. The important thing is that genuine refugees are being brought into safety.

Then you'll support the Dutch proposal to put a ferry in place to take all those crossing the sea illegally in to Greece straight back to Turkey ??

Yes, just like Paris and many major European cities......

Or, to be more precise, France and most European countries...

I'm surprised this hasn't been seriously suggested before. At the very least there should have initial processing of asylum claims on the Greek islands and many immediately deported back to Turkey.

Whilst growing parts of Turkey are not safe the majority of the country is and certainly the area near the Greek islands appears to be safe.

If you think the scale is in any way comparable you've not been watching the news.

As you say the parts of Turkey that migrants would have embarked from on the boats are considered safe.

Nice clear map, so much better than the word description hazard areas you often see.
