The horrendous part of this incident is that the accused is a 15 year old boy.
Alexandra Mezher, 22, was working alone with ten youths aged between 14 and 17 when she was attacked at the home for unaccompanied young migrants in Mölndal, near Gothenburg. She later died of her injuries in hospital.
She shouldn't have been left or working alone in the first place. True it maybe a one off incident but it makes you wonder why it happened and will it happen again.

However, imagine you go on holiday to a resort where the group to which you belong is known to be unpopular among certain types and possibly open to abuse or, worse, assault when identified.
How wise would you think it that this common practice was forced upon you so as to identify you to those who may take advantage of it and thus single you out in a way that might otherwise not happen?

A private firm that houses asylum seekers will stop making them wear coloured wristbands after the policy was criticised.

Seems to me this is the sort of problem with privatising things that shouldn't be privatised.

It'll be a lot like those you do wear at a concert or resort, you need to pull back your sleeve for other to see it
This is whinging of the 1st order....
or maybe it was just the wrong shade and didn't match his/her shoes

So unless they're wandering around in t-shirt how is this a big issue ?

For a refugee that needs to eat, it's a reminder that they have nothing, and without it they will starve. A visual reminder of desperation as opposed to a visual reminder of success.
Sometimes you need to think beyond mere practicalities. It's called empathy.
Beyond that, as Bristol noted, there is the very real risk that such a wristband would drawn unwanted attention from thugs etc..

it was stupid to cross reference to Nazi symbolism used in Concentration camps
and one badly used already by the media.....

How unbelievably crass is it to liken being on holiday or at a concert with a situation having fled conflict in one's own country?
And then to rub it in with comments about wearing T-Shirts.
I've read some tripe on this subject but that's just unbelievable.

"Godwin's Law" is a pathetic rhetorical device used to shut down debate.
Do we learn from history or do we dismiss a major period of European history because it is expedient to do so? If anything, we should be examining the plight of Jewish refugees in the Thirties and Europe's approach to them to better inform our decisions regarding Syrian refugees and migrants from elsewhere.
