I've been on patches and chewing gum for a week now, my jaw is killing me but I just got back from the smoking clinic, my carbon monoxide reading was 18 last week, today it was only 2 I'm well impressed just have to do something to stop me having that ciggie after Dinner is the 1 I can't give up

Good luck to everyone trying to give them up!!

We have just started really on the tablets
but just done over 24hrs without a fag, tablets give me sleepless nights as i wake up a few times, but the thing that keeps me going is the fact ive done the first 24hrs and no-way am i going back
ALL ash trays have gone in wheelie bin and all money we would spend is going in our canada fund, wow has it grown this week alone

One BAD point is, my 40 aday mother also give up over 2 weeks ago and her moods are BAD, if i get this bad ive told OH to slap me one, lets say if i mention canada now or people coming to view house she goes in a paddy :curse:
Rosie more chewing gum after a meal for you, think of your next test - the big 0
i find airwaves blows any feeling i have after a meal

Keep it going Rosie, you've got to give up that last cigarette or you won't become a non-smoker, it'll be too easy to creep back up tp 2, then 3 etc.
At least with Zyban there are no cravings, so if you struggle then I suggest getting on these.

I failed miserably after about 3 weeks. :curse:

I have been to the doctor tho and he gave me a prescription for a magic pill (well I hope it's magic). From what I can make out from his writing it looks like it's called Champix.

Way to go Robin! i am rooting for you! As an ex smoker myself, I know how hard it is, but stick with it. I quit cold turkey so I am not sure about Zyban, but whatever works for you is key. Keep it up

You are right it is called champix now, well that is what we are on.
Its no magic pill, you need the will power as well and i find that i still have a slight craving, but was given a stop smoking CD from a friend and WOW that has helped, so relaxed now and after listening to it again last night, had the best night sleep
plus 2nd day as a non smoker

I'm trying that Champix. Gave up for 4 years on Zyban but then got complacent, kept having a couple of drags on nights out then when a crisis occurred had a full one. Slippery slope then

Different active ingredient than in Zyban but I hope it does the same for you as for me right now. The down side is that alcohol is not recommended for the duration of my course. I guess it might lower the resistance. Good luck Raine.

Well done Gill, I'd agree there, you still need the will power not to smoke because it has been such a force of habit, but the craving isn't there for me. I wonder if Champix is the Canadian equivillent?

Zyban was originally used as an antidepressant and I got a bit high on them, but when I stopped taking them felt like crap. Champix works in a different way so hopefully won't get the mood swing. Curious to see how it works also, will keep you updated

Day 3 taking Champix, don't give for another 10 days, but have noticed already not smoking as much and when I have one I don't get anything off it. There's no ahhhhhh factor when u light up.
