Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I dislike 24 hour blood pressure monitors. They're not 'weighty' but they still feel as if your head is being tugged down and the tube gets in the way. If you're out and it beeps you get funny looks.
But the night time is the worst. The action is reduced to hourly from every 30 minutes but last time I remember 'anticipating' it and waking up 10 minutes before it went and taking another 10-15 minutes to fall back asleep and waking 35 minutes later...and repeat through the night. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Idiots !!!
https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/canada...-ont-1.3828016 I bet they used Gov funded roads to get there and how many will throw away their passports and drive licence Hamilton -- A band of masked vandals describing themselves as "ungovernables" roamed through a stretch of an Ontario city hurling rocks at small businesses and causing up to $100,000 in damage, local police said Sunday. Cafes, stores and vehicles along a roughly one-kilometre stretch of road in Hamilton took the brunt of the damage as between 20 and 30 people marched along the route on Saturday night. |

Make your own. Two tips; firstly, toss them in some baking powder, secondly, use some of that non-stick tin foil. Then just crank up the oven to 425/50 and jut turn them over every 15 mins. Crispy deliciousness.

Like many I thought that chicken wings and legs were overpriced when compared to white meat... but now I've changed my mind, a bit messy but tasty nonetheless if you stick to the salt and pepper crispy variety and forget the saucy barbeque stuff. |

Men in hazmat suits...decontamination procedures....that's not usual for two people found "apparently" passed out, drunk, drugged, whatever...is it? The guardian report carried a reminder about the guy who drank Polonium laced tea - something that may have been a danger to others the way administered. This guy is known to security services. Maybe my imagination has gone to hyper mode but isn't it feasible that there's been some kind of observation or tip off leading to that sort of response? |

Maybe my imagination has gone to hyper mode but isn't it feasible that there's been some kind of observation or tip off leading to that sort of response? Fentanyl, Fentanyl analogues and other potent synthetic opioids and analgesics may be absorbed through the skin, allowing the drug to enter a person’s body without the typical illicit drug ingestion methods such as smoking, snorting, injection, etc. In addition, opioids may be inadvertently inhaled in situations where suspected drug samples are disturbed and particles become airborne. These exposures may place other people, including first responders, at potential risk. https://www.fentanylsafety.com/Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate narcotic, a prescription drug used primarily for cancer patients in severe pain. It is roughly 50 to 100 times more toxic than morphine. More... http://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/...rfentanil.aspx hopefully it was Fentanyl and not Carfentanil, which is approximately 100 times more toxic than fentanyl and 10,000 times more toxic than morphine |

That's why I wondered if the security services had previously got wind of something. I see in the paper today the woman was apparently his daughter, visiting from Russia. Using my finely tuned wild imagination  I see a plot kickstarted by Russian security services being made aware of the daughter's planned visit to her father who, according to earlier reports, had been given a new identity, so they wouldn't necessarily know of his whereabouts. An ideal opportunity for retribution of the kind previously administered...poison tipped umbrellas, Polonium in tea, that sort of thing. There's an interesting list of mysterious deaths in the guardian today https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...nked-uk-deaths |

Quote: 'British police said two people, a 66-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, had been found unconscious on a bench in a shopping centre on Sunday in the southern English city of Salisbury'. Now forgive my ignorance but this must be an everyday occurrence in any major city. No doubt the first reaction would have been to call police and ambulance. So at which point does an everyday scene of drug overdose trigger a response by the gentlemen in yellow Hazmat suits? No doubt the man had ID on his person, so did the police discover some hidden accreditation of belonging to the ex-spy network, did they do a routine search to see who he was and if they did were they surprised by the Men in Black telling them to back off? A curious tale and more intellectually fulfilling than watching Trump deny he was ever there, wherever that was. |

I didn't like the idea either, but it's not a lot different to eating a drumstick with crispy skin - you are not eating gristle, you eat the meat and skin. They are actually quite tasty! :) |

Bliss to get the wretched BPM off this morning. Couldn't even have a lie-in to make up for the lack of sleep as I had to return it to the hospital for 8.00am.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
There is a condo down the hall that has now been flooded 3 times in 6 months.
Flood as in pipes breaking from above in the walls and flooding the unit. I have lived in 3 buildings now that were built in the last 5 years and the amount of issues they have had, well I would never buy a condo in Vancouver-Fraser Valley, the work seems shoddy. |

Gas is on the rise. 20 cent increase in 2 weeks and still climbing.
Metro Vancouver gas prices hit $1.50 per litre, nearing all-time record - British Columbia - CBC News Even my scooter will be pricey to fill....91 gas normally is 20 cents more then regular. I bet it gets to 12/ week by summer for the scooter. Scooter was a good idea. |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I am going to try for the M license this spring/summer.
I didnt want to invest much last summer as I wanted to see if it was a viable year round mode of transport and for the most part it is. A couple of days where I had to use a car share.

It sounds like it was. You might want to think about getting your full motorbike license. You could step up to a 125cc or 150cc and the extra power it would make all the difference with your riding experience.

Yikes. 23k water bill
says he was contacted by a city official about an unusually high quarterly bill in October 2016. It does sound very extreme though. When I had my duplex I got a call from the water company telling me that there was currently an increased use of water suggesting a leak or worse over the last few days. They obviously "caught" it quicker than for this guy. I don't remember details now but it suggested the bill might go very much higher if not checked. I checked with the tenants...nothing inside and my handyman went over. Apparently someone had turned on the outside tap and not turned it off. No visible water as there was snow and the attached hose was under snow. The water company had a policy of offering a credit in such a situation and the credit meant I didn't have to pay more than about $50 extra. |
