Might try to make it out to see Manning Park this summer, I try every summer but it never works out, maybe this summer we can manage one small road trip.

Almost time for Jeopardy!
When I heard they'd discovered a cure for dyslexia, it was like music to my arse. Re: Jeopardy - I got a few big money ones they didn't... but no payday. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Saw this guy on Live at the Apollo the other evening, some of his puns made me groan, but damn funny all in all.
Does he get much Canadian TV exposure? |

Edit: Turns out he's been on Just For Laughs several times, and I just didn't see him. |

James Holzhauer is making a slow start today on Jeopardy, this could be interesting.
edit; nah, he made 80,000 and left them in the dust anyway. |

One of the classics; I used to show this at film night back in the 80's.

I saw the Moody Blues perform this live at Jones Beach Theater in NY years ago. They have the New York Philamonic <sp> with them. They did the entire album.
Swapped the two tickets for a week's car 'rental' on my next trip out... Still miffed at not seeing DMB though. |

Guardian says "The British hospitality company Whitbread owns the building and said it was being sold as a going concern" Bristol Post says "Given that the council-owned building dates all the way back to 1664..." and "Leaseholders Whitbread" Someone's a bit off. But who? Interesting quote near the top of the Post article "Don't let Wetherspoon anywhere near it" :p I thought Wetherspoon were shedding their bad image? |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I hate pants shopping, so hard to find the size I need.
All my pants at home are 38x34 and fit, but every pair of work pants I have tried on at Marks that are the correct color, are too small at the waist. I dunno if 38x34 is smaller in Canada vs the US, but certainly not the same size lol. |

Surprised the volley doesn't get a mention - seems to be only one year later than the Llandoger. |

Only if you approach from Denmark St (the angle in the pic) do you see that but it's only small in comparison. All the other angles - from when it was the old cinema or O2Academy - it could just as easily be the Hole in the Wall at Queen Sq. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...9f505dfe9a.png If you approach it from any way but Denmark st, you're too close to look up and see it. That aside, it just doesn't look as old as the Llandoger. I think it's the low level windows. Perhaps it's just me. |

He wore black corduroy suits and white cheesecloth shirts and used Aramis aftershave, despite having a little bit of a beard.. and he smoked skinny cigars. :D That just took me back ohhhhhhh more than 40 years! :D |

Random browsings of google maps and wikipedia results in discovering the line
"The Saskota Flyway (Highway 9) is known as the International Road to Adventure, because it takes you from Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, all the way south to Bismarck, North Dakota" How to put this politely.... my idea of 'adventure' is apparently not the same as that author's  |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
BC Public Service have a weird way of doing job interviews. Local government here is what I'd consider 'normal' interview - interviewer has questions, you sit down, they ask them, there's back and forth, you can talk, clarify, question back, etc. Provincial? You get given the full list of questions when you arrive, and 20 minutes to study. That is everything you'll be asked, handed to you. Then they show up, read the questions out in full, and write notes as you answer. When you're done talking, they read out the next question.
I suppose it allows for a more 'objective' outcome rather than judging how a conversation goes, but there's no need to be in the same place, they could just video applicants & then watch them all back to back. It's not so much an interview as 'give five short speeches on these topics'. |
