I just changed plans and we are driving from BC leaving today quickly to get through the pass tonight and hopefully beat the snow in the forecast for tomorrow. I really don't want to have to deal with trying to put snow chains on for the first time ever.... |

I really don't want to have to deal with trying to put snow chains on for the first time ever.... Last year I rented a car in France and had to get snow chains for it due to us going to a resort in the Alps. Ended up never needing chains and my UK and French cousins were so surprised when I said I had never used chains in Canada. Believe it or not there are YouTube videos on how to put them on. I think above about 70 km/h or so is not recommended but then you're likely driving on snow covered roads anyway. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
MIL flaked out on watching the house & aquariums so we have postponed leaving as its too late to leave today.

Looking at its location you'll be the taxi for your kids a lot. Public transit doesn't appear to be nearby. The downside is there's a long driveway to plow, lots of grass to cut and the potential to be plagued by weeds. Maybe the odd golfball crashing through the window. "Can we have our ball back please?" |

Stopped at Medford, Oregon for the night. It rained and heavy rain most of the time from the time we left Vancouver, BC at 4am until about an hour before Medford. 900 km of rain...lol
Google says 12 hours rest of the way so 14 ish with gas and break stops. |

https://goo.gl/maps/AXbd8oJyLRk Bats is doing a great job finding the fugly in small town Ontario. That one in Brighton has this place by the main road in front of it. https://goo.gl/maps/LihcJdWTVxj at least it is a landmark to describe the retrofitted building you live in converted into apartments. |

Fairytale is the word! It's definitely the showpiece of the town.
https://www.google.ca/maps/@44.01339...!3m1!1e3?hl=en Upon looking around at a few spots in the town it seems like a nice place, some parts not as affluent, but even those areas without pavement have some charm. It isn't choked with cars and trucks, or derelict vehicles, which is refreshing. |

A lot of house for the money! Nice riverside location too.
Housing just isn't that expensive here. My 4-bed detached in a nice area is probably worth $270k tops. If we moved it five miles down the road to the Ottawa side, the price would be way higher. |

Houses on either side of the Gatineau River, or on the Ottawa River, are almost always the most expensive in town. You could have just told me the price and I could have stuck a pin into a map for the three probable locations.
