I was thinking about this earlier. Macca, together with John, has at least been a major writer in addition to being Beatles and had a more significant career than Ringo who, for a time, was more famous for marrying a Bond Girl.

Ringo Starr has done less harm. Writing Yesterday does not excuse the execrable output of Wings. If McCartney had died aged 30 or so then we might say that he was a more deserving person than Mr. Starr but he didn't, he drones on to this day, and we are obliged to hear his wailing and to hear of his peculiar women friends.

I've met Ringo briefly and he was lovely - that's worth a knighthood. I've heard that Macca isn't lovely at all.

So.. it's your birthday. Friends call around and you have a few. Your wife sits in the kitchen with an empty glass. You can feel her glaring through the wall. You sit around and, yes got it, tummy starts to rumble. "Who's for a curry then?". You know it'll be a mistake, but macho man has been perching on your shoulder the whole evening and you loudly bang on the closed kitchen door as you stumble past. Waiter stands at the head of the table, "Ten beers each and vindaloos to die for.. and make them too hot for beelzibub himself!" The waiter disappears. Later that night. Tummy rumbles a bit more as you lay on the floor having failed to convince your wife that it was somebody elses fault, tummy gurgles. You make it to the loo just in time. Later that morning. "Morning dear, ... you know that nice new light thingy you put in the loo, well it met with an accident........." |

I'll give Amazon kudos on making it easy to get a replacement order when the original order is lost.
Canada Post seems to have misplaced it. |

Ocular migraine, anyone experienced one?

We had the same in the UK, couriers said that the post code didn't exist, but we could prove it was correct, didn't deliver, so we rang Amazon, took them about 5 mins to arrange a refund and to tell us to reorder.
I notice since letting my Prime membership lapse, shipping is not as reliable, even when you pay for 1 day shipping. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Sometimes healthcare becomes annoying.
Specialist appointment on the 17th of January, the office didn't send the lab requisitions until last Thursday, which I received by email on Friday. One of the tests ordered requires an appointment at the lab, and there is a very limited number of labs that provide the test needed, all are booked until after my appointment on the 17th, earliest in the 19th. Now have to wait until April to see the specialist. Frustrating..... |

I used to get this, but definitely with an associated headache. In fact it was usually the best way to tell a migraine was coming. I avoid triggers now.
It's quite bizarre but only lasts a few minutes before going back to normal. It started a couple of weeks ago and is not uncommon, apparently. I'll be going to an ophthalmist to have my eyes checked before making an appointment with a doctor, just to put my mind at ease. I must admit I was a bit freaked out by it initially! :) |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Mightily pistoff today.
The bridge in the front of my mouth - fitted Montreal 2005 - has been feeling funny. Based on past experiences of crowns I knew it was going to come off soon. I was hoping it would last until a coming appointment next week and that it could be stuck back in place then. Not only did it come off today, it's more than just come off. Both the holding teeth appear to have snapped off with it. I don't want to spend a fortune and have numerous appointments for dental implants - I'm too old - but I don't want a partial denture either. I certainly don't want a gap like some other New Brunswickers although that's what I have at the moment. I saw my dentist today - 45 minutes after my phone call  I'm being referred to a specialist who, he thinks, may be able to insert a couple of posts and either reattach the bridge or have a new one done. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
One of our Oldies (if any of you watched the YouTube clip I posted the other day) passed away today, we were able to get her husband out of hospital where he is waiting on a heart op yesterday, he spent the night with her in the nursing home and she passed away quietly this morning. Sad but expected. They were married 67 years, moved from the UK in 1964. They have had a very rich life together. It's very emotional.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Yesterday I ordered a new bedside clock/radio.
Can someone explain why it comes with a remote control? It's a bedside radio that I want to operate from my bed just to the side. Within arm's reach. Why would I operate it remotely? |
