Is anyone else tired all the time? I have never been full of energy and always slept more then what most likely do, but man it's getting worse, if I sleep 8 hours, I still wake up tired, sleep 12 same, 6-7 and I am a zombie, less then 6, and I barely function...
Doctors have ruled out any physical ailment, and blood work taken over the years is always normal, so no known cause. I work 3 days one week, and 4 the off week, 12 hour shifts, and the weeks I have 4, I barely make it through the week. But maybe that is just me. I think I sleep, but I dunno maybe I am not sleeping through the night but don't remember waking up? |

Funny thing, there was a card enclosed saying "STOP. Read this card before AUGUST" Then I read it properly. "Read this card before use" and then August below. It was about registering the warranty. |

Off the point I know, but does anyone know if cashback on a credit card is taxable in Canada.

It wouldn't even have occurred to me to think of that. On the one hand I would say no, because it's a refund. But then it comes back from the card issuer (even though it relates to a purchase). I googled and according to this, the answer is No unless it's via a 'work' card. That might adversely affect some on BE. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
We had a snowfall in the GTA yesterday and overnight. Probably about 5 inches. Not too much but enough to cause some disruption to traffic and lives. I’m always astonished when driving through upscale neighbourhoods ($1 million + homes) with expensive cars in driveway and probably all the electronic toys God can send, and I see older men out there shoveling snow, to the possible detriment of their health. Why they wouldn’t buy themselves a decent snowblower? With one, a double car driveway and a 60ft sidewalk can be cleared in probably 15 minutes.
Seems very short-sighted to me |

Why they wouldn’t buy themselves a decent snowblower? Even when I used to do it all, I was careful and would sometimes take several shifts over a couple of days. But maybe they are doing that too? |

I'm home sick today with the dreaded lurch so I'm watching daytime telly. I've learned so much, did you know that we should put cedar boughs on the boot tray? As soon as I have the strength I'll dash out and cut some. I'm sure it will make all the difference.

Why not check both ways and split the difference? ;) |

I had my first day off sick in 20 years last week. Bad, bad cold, but in previous years I still would have gone in. My immediate (German staff) colleague talked about how it would be bad juju for his young family if he got sick from work colleagues, so I figured, what the hell, I can afford a day off so I did. Felt so wrong though. Illness is not a good enough excuse to prevent a day's billing.... |

You definitely needed to stay away from work. |

Yes and was told I didn't have sleep apnea.
After reading a bit most likely due to depression and or anxiety or a combination of both. Could be situational as well. I don't particularly enjoy living where we are and feel there is no future due to the cost of housing in BC. I guess sleep is the best way to escape it all.

Prospect of renting for life isn't doing me any favors, renting leads to no stability and no stability leads to stress. Lack of places in BC that offer both affordable housing, and employment opportunities that are not min wage.

We also have a slightly complicated situation due to provincial disability which doesn't move provinces. |

Mostly from there being no long term future in Vancouver/Fraser Valley area due to high cost of housing and lack of income to match cost of housing.

My company doesn't have any locations in Alberta, so would have to find a job prior to moving, but moving isn't an option at the moment as we lack any funds to do so, moving provinces is costly.. Receiving provincial disability does not automatically make one eligible for the tax credit. Although my other half has been eligible for it in the past. |

Thanks for the advice. It seems pretty definite that cashback is non-taxable ! I still can't get over the idea that things like dividends and some interest is taxable even when you do not receive it and it will be taxed again when you cash in the investment eg in a mutual fund |

I just found something I used to buy in tins in my local Patco supermarket in Totterdown, Bristol.
It used to look repulsive when the tin was open but, by the cringe, it was delicious. http://www.shopspicy.com/eCommImages...0000001817.jpg I can't say it's exactly the same as the one I used to get but I ordered a pair of tins @ $16 free delivery just in case. |
