I was talking to someone yesterday about house prices where I am in California and the person mentioned how expensive they were at 400 or 500k automatic in my mind was thats cheap.
Been in Vancouver too long. Same with rent. Can get a nice apartment with A\C, swimming pool, gym, central heating, 2 free parking stalls for 1,500 a month. Compared to Vancouver thats a deal too.
But then you do have to pay for healthcare.

That's only like 650k per unit. Not bad really. Photos the place looks good. Nice sized lot.

Is that $1500 US$ ($1970 Can) or $1500 Can$??? I own a nice condo in Toronto which I rent out for $1750 monthly. I’m forever being told I could get more, but I’m happy as it is. It is over 1,000 sq.ft., has two bedrooms and balcony, is fully heated and air conditioned. Building has indoor Swimming Pool and full Rec.Centre and is truly only a 2 minute walk to the Subway System. Only one parking space unfortunately, but goes with rent. Also has good sized storage locker. It also has full, on site Security, manned 24/7 It’s in a great location, within easy walking distance of shopping area. Needless to say I don’t encounter problems when trying to find tenants. I only wish I’d bought more units.
1,500 US as the apartment is in the US.
We pay 1,750 CAD in Vancouver and only amenity is a community room you can rent for $200. Parking is an additional charge. No a\c, no pool, no security, unit with the balcony is 550sq feet and 1 bedroom and in a questionable area, only a few blocks from th DTES so a good amount of drug issues and petty crimes.
Current rent if moving into our building today is 2,000 to 2,500 a month now, we moved in 2 years ago so are at a lower rental rate.
Units our size sell in the building for around 650k.

I know that living in the US is not favored by many but as a disabled USC living in California I would have thought that you would be eligible for California's liable state provided healthcare. Also treatment for your BPD has to be far more plentiful than what is not being offered you in BC.
The main problem is that you will not be able to get a immediate relative visa for your wife unless you can find someone willing to be her financial sponsor.

We cant fund a move either, there are just too many hurdles involved to.make it doable.
As for treatment options all depends on insurance coverage.
But yeah if we had the funds necessary would be a good probability of moving somewhere in the US, not likely California due to high cost of rent but somewhere.
​​​​​I dont have anyone who could help bring my wife here, so I would need to move first then at some point once my income was high enough start that process.

Yes, finding a financial sponsor would be the most difficult avenue. I know in NYS if you were to move there, you would be eligible for Medicaid until you are working and as your wife would be a permanent resident, she is eligible as well. Another immigrant did this when she and her family moved to NY under an L visa (work visa) no less. She, the husband and the child were immediately placed on Medicaid because her insurance would not start for 90 days and although she had a job, her 2017 taxes (she emigrated last week of 2017) showed no income.

​​​​​​It s not hard to meet the income requirements as min wage in California now is pretty close to meeting it and I have always made a couple over minimum just would take a year to earn enough.

​​​​​​I am just so tired of living in apartments and having unstable housing. Renting in Canada is not fun, leads to unstable housing. I have moved on average once a year, our current place is the longest at 2 years but we cant afford the rent, we just cant find anything we can afford.
