'twas a follow-on from the football reference made by Partially discharged. Now that England have qualified for the last 16, Japan are one of the three potential teams that England will face next, and arguably the most preferable.

I found myself getting very angry at some comments on BE so decided to step away for a few days. I checked back in a couple of times without signing back in so as to avoid temptation and it was nice to see some reason from Oakvillian backed up by Siouxie. Faith restored...a bit...

Thanks.
Ah, of course. I'm not looking that far ahead and I'm taking each game as it comes.
Oh, you were on the right side there too
but Oakvillian was so magnificently withering he stood out.

This reddit post amused me.
But if anyone is looking for affordable co-op housing in Vancouver this place is apparently needing to fill units.

Apparently I am best suited for jobs like Actuary, Astronomer, Healthcare Administrator or Manager, Corporate lawyer, geneticist, hospital administrator or Manager, Quality assurance manager, systems administrator, venture capitalist, nurse, psychiatrist, university professor, pilot, Veterinarian and movie usher.
I have no idea how these tests come up with the results they do, but pretty sure almost all require a fair amount of training or education...lol...
I am not sure why movie usher always comes up, when I took an aptitude test in high school courtesy of the US military, it was on there too...ha ha
I would stay in the airline world, if I could find a way to make a living income which is mostly management, maintenance and pilots these days all of which require more education then I have, airport authorities tend to pay okay as well, I do look at the job offerings YVR has posted.

I nearly lost my wedding ring down the bathroom plughole the other day.
I applied my after shave balm after shaving (when else?) and then I was wiping the residue from my hands with a flannel. It was the sound that alerted me as I saw it bounce around in the sink and then slide to the open hole - there's no insert thingy.
Fortunately I still have good reflexes and grabbed it.

Things Your Father Taught You That You Haven't Taught Your Kids #23
I bought an electrical gadget at the weekend - a pump, if you must know - and when I got it home and took it out of the box I saw something I don't think I've seen in 20+ years... The cable had no plug on it. Just a bare length of cable.
No problem, I thought, once I'd got over the surprise. I just knew that I didn't have a spare plug anywhere (who does these days?) but I thought I'll just whip one off something I don't use any more and wire it onto my new pump. Well, I had plenty old gadgets but of course every single one of them has a sealed plug, absolutely no use for re-using. So I had to go out again to buy a new plug.
Got back, was just about to start when Teenage Son, almost 18, came into the kitchen. Life Lesson time! "Let me teach you how to wire a plug," "Nah, you're alright, can't be that hard, can it?"
