Once asleep I am usually ok, its the falling asleep where I struggle.
Yes coping skills are needed and a work in progress and won't happen quickly though.

This post is about lemmings. I had planned to post this item under the Trump thread, but as I learned while researching the cute little rat this would be putting lemmings in a bad light.
Now I don't know how many people know this but 'FAKE NEWS' had me thinking that lemmings were, well, a bit thick, and inclined to kill themselves every so often.
So I looked at the fount of all knowledge, and discovered that the truth can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemming.
What turns out to be an example TRUMP NEWS can be summarised by this extract ' Lemmings have become the subject of a widely popular misconception that they commit mass suicide when they migrate by jumping off cliffs. This urban myth became widespread after this behavior was shown in the Walt Disney documentary White Wilderness in 1958. However, the animals in the film are not wild animals jumping off the cliff voluntarily, rather they were bought by the producers and pushed over the edge of the cliff..'
On a different note, I'd always believed that the tale told about cuddly big eared Dumbo were true and that elepahants could actually fly. Oh what a shock. Sixty plus years of Disney propaganda screwed up and thrown into the rubbish bin. A foundation stone of life fractured at a stroke into a million pieces. Yesterday I was even prepared to believe that mice with big black ears could make me happy, but it's all gone now.
My only solice is the bottle, which fortunately lies conveniently within reach, Ooops my bottle of Lemming Lager has fallen off the wall and smashed on the rocks below. Perhaps it was fate...

I am amazed sometimes at the speed of the USPS.
My mom sent me something on Tuesday, and it arrived in Canada today, 2 days, not bad, of course now have to wait for CBSA and Canada Post so another 3-5 days most likely.
I sent a small parcel to Florida from Pt. Roberts, WA yesterday (Wed), total cost was $5 and some change, it's already in Florida for delivery tomorrow (Fri), 2 days.
And here it takes Canada Post 2 days just to get a parcel from Vancouver to Vancouver at twice the price...lol

Today's newspaper has one of those irritating ad covers - irritating because it's "only" the first two pages, not the back two, otherwise I could remove it and throw it away.
It's an invitation to "Breakfast with the experts" - some sort of google partner event at the posh hotel downtown. It takes place next Tuesday the 29th. Register by the 22nd to reserve your place. Today is the 25th.

A temple near us offers free meditation classes. I am considering it, as middle of the night obsessing is one of the worst sleep thieves.

We got our family breakfast in at Cora's this morning.
One of the things I like about this city (Province?) is that people are still relaxed about how they address you.
I was with stepson, stepdaughter and mother in law. Our waitress (I'm not saying 'server'
) used dear, love, sweetheart and honey. No particular term for each of us, just the use of all four.

i am the opposite. I fall asleep easily, particularly if there is something I want to watch - I never see more than 15 minutes of 'Elementary' for example - but I can't stay asleep, or fall back asleep. Anything wakes me my dog, other dogs, birds, coyotes, it'll be bloomin' frog season soon. Rural life is no guarantee of peace.

When I am working and need to be up at 3:30am and need to be in bed at 6:30pm, this time of year was the worst since its light until past 9pm and have to have the windows open and overall just nosier in nice weather as more people are out and about so it could get difficult at times just falling asleep.
It is what it is, can't do anything about the traffic and summer, so just gotta deal with it until fall when we can close up the windows again, its actually very quiet with the windows closed just too hot May to Sept to keep them closed.
We think we may look into long term relocating to the US, I would be happier there for sure, Canada has never been my home, its just a place I live. My family is all in the US and being there would allow me to spend time with them, and my wife is up to living there and keeps pushing me to do it and overall my siblings have the same income we have, but have a higher quality of life there, more options for affordable housing, and in general most things are lower cost so a dollar goes further, and I think even with healthcare costs we would likely come out a head.
Obviously won't be for several years since we need to save $$ and of course my wife will need to get legal status there and do all that jazz first, so not something that can be done quickly, but longer term we think it might be the best option for us, the lower cost regions of western Canada just don't appeal to us, and while Atlantic Canada is on our list of options we are wary of being so far from either of our family, and the high cost to get from there to Western US/Canada so we think it's best to stay on the western end of the continent for family proximity and less isolation, we are not good at making friends, and I don't think the isolation of Atlantic Canada would be beneficial to us.

Isn't this usually in a breakfast place? I'd expect to have to go such a place for twenty years before they called me dbd and I'd have to go there for another twenty years and use a Zimmer frame before being Mr. dbd.
