I was expecting to finally have my partial denture today, to replace the bridge that deserted me and we were going to Cora's tomorrow morning for a family full monty breakfast. (MIL had to take a trip to her bank downtown, so we were killing two birds with one cheque)

But my dentist hadn't told me that first he was going to remove the bits of the holding teeth left behind (frags he called them) - essentially two extractions.

I have the partial in place but soreness from the extractions and a prescription for endocet. So tomorrow's breakfast is off and I ate tinned Chef Boyardee Ravioli for dinner.

No fun about breakfast and having the surprise extraction of the frags. Hopefully you can schedule the breakfast in again at some point.

The dentist gave you some good pain killers, when I had an extraction last the best I go was a prescription for ibuprofen.

Yes, I was surprised. I had a wisdom tooth out a few weeks ago and he didn't prescribe anything then. I'm not even sure if he suggested ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Maybe it's because there are two close together combined with the partial which I'm not supposed to remove for a few days or I won't get it back in. I'm sure there's a reason why it was done this way instead of removing the frags, recovering and then doing the partial.

I took an endocet lunchtime before the numbness wore off - he did say don't take it if I didn't need to - felt fuzzy in an hour so went for a lie down. Didn't feel the need later, already felt as if I could have done breakfast after all tomorrow (MIL went to bank today instead) so I didn't take the next one.

I'll take one at bedtime to make sure I don't wake up with some pain.

It's funny...Oxy being addictive and all...four of five in our house have had it at various times. We've all taken it minimally...less than the dosage suggested and cut it early.

Thank you both for your reassurance when I was freaking out. It still looks massive, but it doesn’t seem as loud as it looks, although I wouldn’t say virtually silent.

I've never had anything above tylenol 3, the current GP I see on a walk in basis has big signs everywhere about how she will not prescribe any pain medications, and a list of other meds such as sleeping pills, and some psychiatric drugs, but the area her office is in there is a lot of drug seeking behavior so I can understand why she chose not to prescribe such medications.

If your an official patient in her office and she is treating pain its different, this is for walk in patients/patients not on her roster.

I'm mildly curious. Do the signs make clear that policy is for walk-ins?

I'm sure that for regular patients she would reassure them but I just wondered that if the notices didn't say that, some registered patients not currently treated for pain but hoping to get some pain meds now, for whatever ails them, night be put off.

The precariat rats are finally leaving my pub to go and consume some wretched musical. At least the insufferable prattle about that wedding has diminished.

Winter wasn't so bad when the windows could be kept closed overnight and during the day, but now with summer almost here and temps warming up, not possible to keep the windows closed as it gets too warm inside to be comfortable.

I am finding our apartment a bit too noisy, and nowhere to escape the noise. I have an issue with noises so this has become a frustrating experience. Buses every 5-10 mins making their noise, hissing and beeping when the doors open and close, police cars up and down sirens blaring, people on the sidewalk screaming, and the list goes on.

I may need to find some decent noise cancelling head phones to cancel out some of the noise.

Just put the air conditioning on full blast. If it gets a bit cold, turn up the heat.
