Serious question/issue...wondering if popping over has any issues for PR card renewal. Obviously not for Mrs Js.

I don't mean any doubt, just thinking that PR card renewal might take a bit longer if they 'think' there is anything to look at.

So far I've only renewed once and it was well within expected processing time. Coincidence that I'd not been out of Canada at all?

When I renewed it was well within the processing times when I got the new card back, and I had spent 11 months in total outside of Canada consecutively, but was still well within the residency requirements.

I wouldn't think short 10-20 min trips across would create issues, as far as I know those types of crossings don't count as time spent out of Canada.

Sure...so long as your return to Canada gets successfully recorded and doesn't go missing somewhere, making it look as if you hadn't returned.

Or your departure doesn't get recorded but your arrival does, making it look a bit dd if you see what I mean.

I was just thinking about a mistake happening somewhere - it only needs one to make something look odd enough for it to be looked at in more detail and, thus, take a bit longer.

When I renewed last time, I got a copy of my entry history from CBSA (I think it was $5 or something around that, requested online) and there were some missing entries that appeared CBSA did not record.

Caused no issues, I also provided other evidence I was in Canada, pay stubs, gov't paperwork with dates, tax returns, copy of lease etc.

I suppose in theory it can cause issues, but I can provide evidence needed I am present and accounted for in Canada.

Ah yes, that's exactly what I was thinking.

It sounds like you were wise to have accounted for the discrepancies, whereas if you had assumed their records were complete and correct they may have contacted you about the missing parts, thus delaying the application.

My dad gave me a gift card on Amazon.com (I ask him to as .com is more useful) so I ordered 4 items last night at 7:45pm.

Got an email today from the parcel place at 9:32am that the parcels have arrived.

Not even 14 hours from ordering to delivery.

Amazon doing more and more of their logistics in the US is really making them one fast and efficient service.

And this was standard free shipping for ordering over $49.

Wonder if we will ever see this sort of speed and efficiency in Canada?

I am still waiting on my .ca order from last Wed shipped 2 day prime, Canada post so it wont arrive until Thurs or Friday based on current tracking location.

Actually I ordered something on a Saturday evening 10 days ago scheduled for the Tuesday delivery and in fact it arrived on the monday morning. Granted we live maybe 20 minutes from the distribution centre...

I knew there could be some issues with the time spent outside of Canada, and really made sure to include all the necessary proof, I was indeed inside Canada more then enough time to maintain my status here.

I may apply for citizenship though in the spring if our tax refund is sufficient to cover the fees, the fees are really the only thing that has kept me from applying and based on current processing times posted, in theory wouldn't have to renew the PR card again.

Do German's make things complicated and confusing on purpose?

I needed a new heater for aquarium and they made this thing overly complicated with having to calibrate it, and just a pain in the rear end.

Looking online seems I am not alone in trying to figure out this thing to get it to work correctly.

Great tasting food, number 39:

When you have fried egg on toast and with each forkful you've had a bit of the white and a bit of toast, either dipped into the yolk or you use your knife to dip in and transfer to the toast.

Then you get to the highlight, the last bit, just the round egg yolk sitting on top the last bit of toast. It's enough to cut in two and you can do it without fear of the yolk running over the plate because you judged it so perfectly until now.

And you get to do that bit twice. Heavenly.

When you've not had it for ages, a dash of HP Fruity sauce on top is marvellous too.

Oh my! Your description brought tears of joy to my eyes. No wasted yolk.
I used to love 2 fried eggs with chips in Sainsbury's cafe. They did perfect eggs. Have you tried a pile of buttery, creamed mash with fried egg on the top?

Of course. With a little bit dug out (or pressed down) like a shallow volcano so the yolk can sit in it and not run over the edge.

My doctor is in South Africa, but I think he only works in Canada part-time based on how much his office says he is in South Africa, but he always has a doctor fill in and they are always nice doctors, so no complaints.

They are not as bad as the ones up the valley, they are even worse- especially the arrogant British ones, they are never there in the Summer, always on the golf course or bombing around in their flash cars, and in the Winter, up at their large gaffs up at Whistler... Unbelievable..

I don't mind 'mopping' it up with bread/toast but depending on what you're having with it, you may not be able to absorb it and it just gets pushed around the plate.

Worse case scenario, I'll lick the plate    but you have to be so careful with an egg - all that effort in cracking it just right so you don't break the yolk; getting it in the pan without breaking yolk; flipping it over without breaking yolk and, finally, removing it without breaking yolk...it's almost criminal to then have yolk spillage having taken all that care. Not that I'm in any way obsessed, of course.

I won't drive in winter unless the forecast for the entire day and night in all locations along the route call for sun.

The day we went to Kelowna was just that, no snow for any point from here to there and back, so we risked it, but it was medical related and really didn't have a choice.

BC roads in winter can be treacherous and the weather extreme so I try to respect it too. If I'm planning a trip I check the highway cams, and in winter especially try to schedule the Kootenay Pass in broad daylight, don't want to do it in blizzards in the dark again. On the prairies we're used to bad weather and poor driving conditions, but sliding off the road probably means going in the ditch, not plunging down the side of a freaking mountain.
