A bit worried about the dog tomorrow, first time she has ever been left alone for 8 hours, usually only spends 2-3 hours alone tops, she has never spent 8 hours alone. If I work 70 hours a week, I can afford DBT, but then there is the issue of how to attend since I'd be working 7 days a week. May not work out...lol Great news! Could you get some of those frozen breakfast buns (sausage/egg/cheese) or burritos or microwavable individual pizzas that you can get frozen? 1 minute nuke time and you could hold it and eat as you walk.. or those soups in a microwave 'can' with a lid with a sandwhich, perhaps? A banana and a granola bar would help to keep you going. Stash the cash (as much as you are able) and put it away to pay for DBT when the hours reduce a bit, perhaps. As for Charlee, leave a radio on for her.. and a light.. one of your t.shirts on her bed (that she can get your scent from) .. she'll be fine.. I would suggest getting some puppy pads for in the bathroom or similar, where she can 'go' if she gets desperate. Good luck and hope it goes well! :) |

No sit down or microwaves on most building/ renovation sites & this is what has usually worked for him over the years. |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I'm guessing with a potential 70 hour week - and various start times / finish times - that a hot meal of some kind is wanted if possible, especially if it's an evening shift and with winter coming?
You could make some chunky soups up or buy them in a can, or make / buy some chilli, heat it up before you go to work and take it in one of these perhaps? https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/thermos...=richrelevance |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I do often take sandwiches. Soup is a possibility.
Sometimes certain foods early morning are not the most appealing. Lol On work days I eat nothing at home. I home by 415 and in bed at 530. The 70 hours was to pay for DBT, I am currently just doing 50 hours a week.

Why not just take sandwiches? An endless variety of fillings - meat, poultry, cheese, eggs, salad vegetables, leftovers, different condiments such as mayo, chutney, pickles, relish, sauce, lots of different types of breads, rolls, and buns, and you can have them fresh or toasted. Sandwiches and fruit - sorted.

I do think that when someone is doing a physical job they need to have sufficient calories to keep their body going, particularly when it's cold. |

Please, please, please, stop finding reasons to quit a job before you have even started it. I have quit a lot of jobs, but meal planning/meal types have never been the reason. One place you don't want to live during a postal workers strike is across the street from a sorting facility. |

But the bases can be sweet. I used to know a girl who was in the Navy in San Diego and back then (maybe still) active duty could bring guests onto the base. Basically little city with most amenities of the outside world. This was one of the larger bases in the naval fleet so it might have more vs a smaller base. |

I was never fat but I was definitely carrying a spare tire. In the end I lost 40lb in 5 months, about 2lb a week. Now I only fast Mon - Fri and eat breakfast and lunch with the family on the weekend. When you think you are hungry, have a black coffee, works a treat. |

Amazed sometimes how fast a cold comes on.
Wake up at 3am felt fine. By 8am could feel illness coming on. Now just sucky. |

When I was growing up we would go to the desert and amazing how much you could see just 90 mins away from a major city and rarely a cloud so very clear. Was next. In other topic, almost November and the north shore mountains are lacking snow. I though the last storm would bring some. Hopefully soon. They look much nicer with a snow cap. Cant beleive its been 15 years. This was the worst fire I ever experiencdd in So. California. (San Diego) |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Today SWMBO wanted to go to IKEA. Entering an IKEA store is totally anathema to me so I sit parked and read my iPad. Across from where I was parked are a number of Handicapped Parking Spots. I look up to see a young man (early 20s) pushing an IKEA cart towards a vehicle in a Handicapped spot. There is no-one with him, at this point. About two minutes later an older lady appears carrying coffees. Neither of these two people have any visible handicap. Then two minitues later, again, comes an older man pushing a wheelchair in which there was seated a young woman, severely handicapped. My thought process was quickly slapped down, and rightly so. Things are not always what they seem. |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Was thinking today and my mind was was wandering a bit.....
Looking back 20 years and being able to have a new car, travel, have an apartment and overall pretty good life on a measly 8/hr which is what I made 20 years ago, well 8.83. flash forward and I make 2.32 times the 1998 rate, but no car anymore, and little travel with most going towards just housing. Seems crazy by todays standards. Lol I often wonder in shows set in the past if prices mentioned are accurate based on the actual time period. There is a new show on TV set in the early to mid 70s and 2 adults and like 7 kids. The mentioned a week of groceries cost 32 dollars and got me thinking if that was a realistic number or not. |
