Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
My big purchase today; 4 masks for $20. They have a pocket for filter paper and a removable wire nose piece. When I found out which neighbourhood she was in, I thought wouldn't it be crazy if it was our old house.... but it was almost directly across the street! No trouble finding that place. The owner saw me taking a picture of her house and came out. I explained that those two massive trees in the front yard came home from school with me as seedlings in 1965.

My husband doesn't like mashed potatoes. I found out yesterday. Been together 20 years. His favorite meal is shepherd's pie. I'm confused.

In this case it's "not" mash if it's part of something else. My stepson doesn't like cabbage but he loves stuffed cabbage rolls. |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I don't know the process as to how UPS/Fedex and such clear international parcels when they arrive in Canada, but the process must be different vs Canada since something can arrive and be delivered same day, where with Canada Post that does not happen and can take days after arriving into Canada to clear customs and continue on.
Anyhow, notice this on a parcel Amazon is sending (bought on Amazon CA but lately seems more items are originating in the US even though they were bought on CA and these are items listed as sold by Amazon and not 3rd party.) that there is a customs clearance scan Richmond, BC before the parcel as even left the US, its due to be delivered Thursday, Amazon sent it next day air, and that flight doesn't arrive to Vancouver to 4am or so. So guess UPS pre-clears parcels? If this was a one off, I would say its an error, but its been on every parcel/package that has arrived from the US via UPS or Fedex. Like airline bag tags, the tracking info is read bottom to top. Thursday, May 21 2:27 AM Package has left the carrier facility Louisville, KY US Wednesday, May 20 11:03 PM Package arrived at a carrier facility Louisville, KY US 9:53 PM Package has left the carrier facility Lansing, MI US 6:40 PM Package arrived at a carrier facility Lansing, MI US 5:40 PM Package has left the carrier facility Wyoming, MI US 2:04 PM Completed customs clearance process RICHMOND, BC CA 1:20 PM Package arrived at a carrier facility Wyoming, MI US Package has shipped |

Don't be. Their tastes change with age. At age 57 hubby loved my lasagna, spaghetti sauce, roast pork and beer sauerkraut and now complains about all 3. I don't like meat in the lasagna, there are no peppers or mushrooms in the sauce, roast the pork without kraut instead of the German way. Don't make pot roast or steak or a roast beef. I don't like beef, never have. I want to take the meat mallet upside his head. |

Mostly in Japan fortunately. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...0088934ef7.jpg Oh look...that bloody thumbnail thing happened again. I 'removed' them in theory but not in practice. |

I recently bought a large bar of Kit Kat. The fingers were shorter and thicker than normal...the chocolate was thicker too. It was delish. |

The Cheese KitKats that I found in Osaka were absolutely scrummy. Here, any additions are tarted (screwed) up by wrapping it/them in milk chocolate. It no work for me. |

I can eat like 3 or 4 potato chips, but I can eat a whole bag of plain tortilla chips in one sitting. I am kind of picky, and as my wife will attest to, will gladly not eat rather than eat something I do not like. Helps that I never feel hungry though, I don't think my brain and stomach talk to each other. |

I like french fries, well some french fries namely the kind you get at fast food places, haven't ever been able to make a french fry I like myself or the store frozen variety.

At the same time I love any sort of cheese and most pasta, but the very thought of Macaroni Cheese of any description makes me want to heave...I would like to add that other than not liking chocolate or bananas I am the most relaxed and least picky of eaters imaginable... |

have you heard the theories that your digestive system is kind of a second brain? The bacteria in your gut can, according to some theories, have a big effect on your health/mood? It might be worth exploring.
I always had a theory about my digestive issues being caused by an infection of some sort back in 1999 when I had a wicked bad gastrointestinal illness. All my digestive issues started at that point, prior to that I had no issues at all with my GI system. |

I have read some on that. I have tried a variety of different brands and strains of probiotics as well.

Thing is, your GI tract can be damaged so it needs to heal and, apparently, bone broth is great for this, along with probiotics. Might be worth looking into. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Spoiler:
If this is what collections on the bottom shelf inside the apartment after 2 weeks, hate to see what it might do inside our bodies. This is just 2 weeks of nasty that collected, its not as bad in winter when the windows are closed most of the day, but now with windows open 24/7, this crap collects quickly. Maybe it explains why every summer since we have lived in this apartment both of us have had unexplained coughs each spring and summer. (the photo quality is eh, and my wife has a bw filter set that I can't figure out how to turn off, its a white paper towel after wiping the shelf that is below the open window.) |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Strata is too cheap to hire security guards and they want residents to play security instead and confront the drug addicts and criminals that break in, uh not gonna happen, I will report it to the police but I am not confronting these folks in a parking garage alone, they are unpredictable on a good day.
If you want security, hire a security company to provide it, residents should have to play security. I hate strata living so much. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Sometimes I wonder where Amazon gets their list price to cross out and proclaim your saving X amount of money.
This particular item is 100ml bottle of iron for aquariums, I am not buying it but was window shopping, they are selling it as an add on item for $8.99 but claim the list price is $82.13 and a savings of 73.14 or 89%. There isn't a planet in this solar system where this product would ever be $82, general price range for this size at stores is $7-$9, the 2 gallon jug doesn't even sell for $82 dollars. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...713722c61f.png |

Their response was that sellers could ask what they like. The reviews are okay apart from the one that said "I think it turned some of my plants brown" |
