Yeah yeah. My daughter moves to Hamilton next month, she'll be giving me daily 'my weather is better than yours' reports pretty soon. It's been a bit of a surprise for a lot of us and our plans for the weekend have changed

It's a bugger but to be expected I suppose I'm worried about our old mate this winter

It's very right. Forget all this "curry powder" and raisins nonsense. Try one of those recipes

Or one of the 600 odd other Indian ones Mamta's Kitchen Recipe Search!

The only time I ever use a pre-prepared 'curry' sauce is if I have Pataks - I miss the Balti paste! I usually make them all from scratch.. never, ever curry powder (though that's good for Singapore Noodles!)

She does know it snows in Hamilton too I presume, lol. First winter I was here, we had 5 feet of the stuff in one go; the wind chill is pretty harsh too as it's more humid here and we get a lot of lake effect snow.

Hope the weather turns around for you again and you get a bit of sunshine without the s word!

Also good for chip shop curry sauce.

I use a coffee grinder to make garam masala and other mixes but we are lucky as a next village along store sells Bart spices which are great.

Can't say I've noticed a difference...seems as nice as all the others

I love sultanas in 'my' curry...but not in the Indian or Jamaican type.

I'm afraid I have a problem with recipes of "too many" ingredients or things that require an expedition to buy something that will likely remain in the back of a cupboard after a single use.

Some of the recipes include some powders that are all included in a pack of curry powder.

If all four of us enjoyed a curry it might be different. It's only me that likes all kinds. My mother in law doesn't like anything spicy apart from her spag sauce; stepdaughter is okay with Szechwan but nothing else spicy while my stepson doesn't like Szechwan but loves 'my' curries and not the Indian or Thai kind.

There's a rice dish that my wife and I adapted/invented (named after a combination of the first part of her name and the last part of mine ) which everyone likes. When I do that, that's when I tend to have the curry that I'll like and the others don't. Anything 'complicated' as well as the other one is a bit too much to do.

Instead of raisins try seedless grapes.

I've realized part of the daily stress and irritations I have is directly linked to apartment living and no yard. And just generally nowhere to escape to. Lol

Apartment life isn't my cup of tea.

I do at times. Even made a little box yard if grass. Although the grass didn't make it through summer. But it's slowly coming back to life now. Also have a small maple tree out there to try and make it a bit nicer.

The view is nice but the traffic noise gets old so I wear ear plugs...lol
