Random stuff - the anything else thread

For stuff not worth it's own thread....

My local newspaper wasn't delivered at the usual time Saturday and as I was picking up the unread sports section from Friday to throw away I discovered the reason why.
Unforeseen circumstances. There was an explanatory note.

Apparently these circumstances were the kind foreseen a couple of days earlier when they had advance notice of these unforeseen circumstances.:blink:

Dear valued customer
Due to unforeseen circumstances, your delivery will be done no later than 4.00pm on Saturday.
If you have not received your paper by 4.00pm (but I thought you just said no later than 4.00:lol:) please call --- --- ----
We apologize for any delay in your delivery (any? You just said it would be delayed) and thank you in advance blah blah...
Now, this note was delivered with the paper on Friday morning. I believe it's usually between 5.00 and 6.00, so it's probably put together in the early hours, so this note was probably printed Thursday night and came about from information received earlier on Thursday. About Saturday's unforeseen circumstances.

William and Kate are going to visit our local coast guard station next to the gas barge tomorrow. I thought I might pop along and see if he wants to go fishing, its pretty good at the moment. He'll have to understand that its no birds allowed and he better get the beers in.

I've complained about this before on this site.

I nearly drove into an oncoming truck the other night. Rural area, no streetlights. It had a bright nearside headlight, none on the offside. I thought it was a motor cycle, near miss.

I drive to my daughetr's house 5 miles away a few times daily. Without exception I see at least one vehicle with defective lights.. each way.

Replacing a light isn't expensive, difficult or time consuming.

Don't these idiots realise that in addition to seeing where you're going, it also tells people where you are.

The police don't seem to give a damn. What do we pay them for?

Rant over.

Should be in the cheese thread (or spread) but I like a fancy teapot which is a bit weird as I hate tea:(

I've baked and frozen 11 gluten free cakes in the past week. I'm sick to death of gluten free anything. (It's for a wedding cake for my partner's celiac daughter's wedding next week) I have also made about 100 gum paste rose leaves in various sizes, 30 gum paste rose buds and 6 full sized gum paste roses.

Next daughter better not want a cake!

That reminds me of my childhood when out in the car at night.

My dad would say let's give those two motor bike riders a scare and drive right between them.

An essential part of the day. It's online but you can't really take a laptop into the toilet.

I confused. Why do you drive to your daughters house several times daily? Why not just stay longer? 😕

Randomness around here today is some other half who went to Vancouver in the hopes to possibly, just maybe get a glimpse of Kate and William who will be taking a float plane into Vancouver today.

She is a bit of a royals fan.....

I went down to the Sea Trade Centre and saw the queen arrive in the Britannia back in 1983. The Britannia pulled in on one side of the dock, and 2 Canadian destroyers escorting pulled in on the other side, and the yacht was bigger than the 2 destroyers together. When she got off I jumped over from one balcony to another where there was more room and heard the man next to me say to his friend,
"You see, Hans?, just like I said, she got a beige dress und a ugly hat."
A couple of days later I saw her motorcade on Marine Drive too, she waved at me again!

She must have remembered that beige dress and ugly hat you wore previously.
