Surely that was Alf Ramsey substituting Bobby Charlton in 1970? Or Glenn Hoddle leaving out Gazza for WC 98.

Depends on your point of view.

If it'll be as catastrophic as you surmise then this outcome will result in some financial loss to the UK, some inconvenience for UK individuals living in the EU and for those wishing to visit the EU, some excuses for dissidents in Ireland to murder anyone they like, etc, etc.

What it won't do is deliberately set out to invade and destabilise other countries with resulting deaths of hundreds of thousands of poor souls whose only issue is to live in a country that the UK has decided needed regime change.

Whilst the decision to leave the EU may or may not turn out to have been the correct one, stating that it will have been "the biggest mistake since the end of WW2" is just a little over the top and open to dispute.

I thought we were talking about mistakes, not classic comedy.

It's arguably the biggest mistake by a western electorate, the one possible dispute being whether or not electing Trump was more stupid. "Since the war" is questionable though, what did voters do before the war that's in the same league?
