Which is the most stupid act of my lifetime; electing Trump or choosing Brexit? Time will tell but, right now, I think America will recover from Trump.

Not a fan of Boris, but it's sure to be amusing.

Maybe. But given how much the bar has been lowered by him, would a recovery be to a point that much lower? Has he not opened the door to more of the same? Or worse.

I mistakenly believed other republicans would become embarrassed by him but there's no sign of that judging by the way that vote split on party lines last week.

The US could continue downhill, yes, but I think that much less likely than the UK suffering an accelerated permanent decline with Boris and the Brexiteers. They walk out of the EU, then they're completely beholden to Trump; end of NHS, proxy war with Iran, collapse of UK agriculture, renewed violence in NI. And more bloody golf courses I gotta say that people at work, those from former colonies, are absolutely loving this.

The British government appears to be the one trying to start a war with Iran. I honestly don't know what Trump thinks he's doing, but so far he's avoided every opportunity he's been offered to bomb the place.

And, no, there's no going back in the US or UK. The populations of both countries have seen what their 'elite' are really like, and they don't like what they see. Watching the Democrats come out of the closet as bat-crap crazy communists has been hilarious.

He certainly does invite comment.
Certainly no moderates here, you're either for or against.. but is this because you like or dislike the man or whether you have strong views about his proclaimed policies?
This man will become PM because May failed to understand the implications of her 'deal' and was stubborn enough to believe that her way was the only way.
Brexit will be front and center of every headline until and after October.
It's almost as if he's set up to fail before he starts because few will see any advantage in smoothing his path.
But he wanted the job, let's see how long he can keep it. Whoever picks up the traces if or when he goes will be relieved that they aren't where he is now.

.
Unlike Trump, BoJo seems personally likable, in an irresponsible rich buffoon, kind of way. He doesn't have policies so one cannot object to those. It's just that he's going to ruin the country.

I was listening to a radio interview on BBC5 whilst driving this morning. The interviewee (whose name I didn't catch) was the person who beat Boris in a 1984 election for President of the Oxford Union. The state grammar school winner explained that Boris wanted the "top job" as if by right but was unable to win because he had no plans as to what he wanted to do in office.

Some things in a personality never change in a lifetime. He has the "top job" now, probably, but again has no plans as to what to do with it Nothing he's blustered about and promised is actually in reality possible. He doesn't give a flying one, he's PM, as if by right.

I've posted before that it wouldn't surprise me if he revoked A50. Yes, he is that much of a charlatan.

First claiming to detest Trump, then turning 180 degrees and becoming a fan of Trump's indicates a predilection for situational ethics.
