Yes, that's what they say. And then far fewer lambs to dot the hills. Not something the Brexit folk like to dwell on.

What would the government do with all those young sheep? Is it something to do with Prince Andrew?

What kind of laws will a completely sovereign Parliament want to enact different from the EU, lower quality standards? less social protection? On new trade deals, what are we restricted on now? Why do Germany and France have no problem operating within an EU framework? We always hear about these sunlit uplands, but when you press for detail there are no concrete examples of the gains to be had.
When did I ever suggest that it wasn't a trade off?

In theory, a sovereign UK Parliament could ban smoking in Paris. It cannot do that at the moment (Those that have studied constitutional law will get that, others will think I mad). I am amazed that you have asked the question on trade deals that you have and I will leave it for Germany and France to answer your final question.

The UK Parliament never lost it's sovereignty. Even the government's Brexit White Paper agreed that.

The UK government issues the fishing licences for UK waters.

“This [[i]Unearthed story] shows that, while it points the fingers at others, this government is to blame for a sector rigged in the interests of the super-rich. Any future fishing policy must consider how new and existing quota can be more fairly distributed and we will treat this as a priority in the upcoming fisheries bill.”

The investigation found:
  • The five largest quota-holders control more than a third of UK fishing quota
  • Four of the top five belong to families on the Sunday Times Rich List
  • The fifth is a Dutch multinational whose UK subsidiary – North Atlantic Fishing Company – controls around a quarter of England’s fishing quota
  • Around half of England’s quota is ultimately owned by Dutch, Icelandic, or Spanish interests
  • More than half (13) of the top 25 quota holders have directors, shareholders, or vessel partners who were convicted of offences in Scotland’s £63m “black fish” scam – a huge, sophisticated fraud that saw trawlermen and fish processors working together to evade quota limits and land 170,000 tonnes of undeclared herring and mackerel
  • One of the flagships of the “Brexit flotilla” – which sailed up the Thames in 2016 to demand the UK’s exit from the EU – is among the UK’s 10 biggest quota-holders
  • Around 29% of UK fishing quota is directly controlled by Rich List families. Some of these families have investments in dozens of other fishing companies, meaning companies holding 37% of UK quota are wholly or partly owned by these Rich List families.
https://unearthed.greenpeace.org/201...-michael-gove/

owners of more than 95% of UK quota holdings – including, for the first time, those of Scotland, the UK’s biggest fishing nation.

It reveals that more than two-thirds of the UK’s fishing quota is controlled by just 25 businesses – and more than half of those are linked to one of the biggest criminal overfishing scams ever to reach the British courts.

Meanwhile, in England nearly 80% of fishing quota is held by foreign owners or domestic Rich List families, and more than half of Northern Ireland’s quota is hoarded onto a single trawler.

To you, maybe, to them, it was/is something very different. My family has personal experience of this and whether you like it or not, fosters the "elite and us" attitude. FFS, trying seeing things from another's perspective for once.

F*&K me, get Costco to contact them asap. Oh, just realised, they can't as it isn't going to happen until well after Costco's usual purchasing lead in times!

Eh? Is Costco going to be banned after Brexit? If not, surely it doesn't matter when the sheep are going to slaughter, cheap sheep are still cheap sheep.

You responded to DBD that there "were many advantages" and then proceeded to list some dubious ones with no reference to any trade-offs.

I have sympathy for those effected (as I pointed out to Dave above). What I take issue with is the emotive campaign used to manipulate Joe Public to focus on very tangible national/local misfortune in order to gain buy-in for a highly damaging change in economic direction. For a lawyer you're not very strong on nuance.

So far the easily understood advantages of Brexit are:

- control of the issuance of fishing permits but the fishing companies are dodgy and/or EU owned anyway
- the ability to control immigrants more freely, to Windrush them at will

It's not seeming a noble endeavor.

How many other things are the EU blamed for that are equally untrue?

During the referendum campaign, and since then, Remainers have tried to point out these lies and misconceptions, but Leavers didn't bother listening because we weren't appealing to their emotions....
