And sometimes the dad loses the egg or the chicks freeze to death. I saw "March of the Penguins" too.

It was cute sometimes ---- but I never got dragged to any cinema to see it. It happened to be on TV over Christmas sometime when we were back in the UK. We stumbled upon that channel and the kids thought it was dead cute ..... until the first fluffy chicks died of frostbite.

We rented our home in a small town, when we moved in they had them up (summer) and that is where they have stayed for the last couple of years...

Its where they are staying when we move in a few weeks as well

The large holes in the ground all over Calgary.

These used to be 50s bungalows which, because of the plot size, have made room for 2 very narrow semis costing $800k a piece.

These modern semis consist of a featureless box painted a sludge colour with huge windows.

Seems to me that families want a large house with lots of square footage but no garden as they don't have the time for gardening and not a lot grows here as such a harsh climate.

They DO sound like a pack of squawking penguins.

I hate it when they can't understand my accent and I have to repeat myself or they mistake what I've said and think I'm being rude. I dunno if that's my fault or theirs for being so bloody sensitive about everything. I can't change my way of talking in 6 months to accommodate stroppy old women!
