It was ok but not great, took about 45 minutes to get our food once ordered, barely warm, relatively tender but it had been pounded out to 1/2" thick, (if you breaded it it would pass for a cutlet) so not what I'd even call a steak but the jus had fresh rosemary and that was nice. Not as good as the moose steaks my neighbour gave me and not worth $25, I won't go back unless it's free again and given input I'd choose someplace else. This was at the new Regina Centre Crossing location so maybe being new makes a difference.
I've always had good service, but it is a low end chain steakhouse that probably had its day 25 years ago. When we have big cheeses come to town we take them to Gotham's as they do a better steak. |

I remember The Seahorse pub in Bristol having 'Exhibition' on draught. (that was a bit of a dive - Siouxie will probably confirm) |
Re: Lunchtime Choices
My older pup serves in the Victoria Keg- he is back in the kennel for Christmas- he would recommend the Mushroom Neptune for starter, New York steak , rare/ medium rare, garlic mash potatoes, side of sauté mushrooms. Washed down with J. Lohr Cab Sav and finish with creme brûlée ...
He prefers kibble:lol: |
Re: Lunchtime Choices
With you on the steak houses. My former team went to Mandarin for a lunchtime buffet for their xmas do- so no 45-minute wait. My new team went to Jack Astors, so there was a wiat and the food not as good but had a nice pint of cider. Forgot to specify no ice though...

He prefers kibble:lol: Good choice. I'll try the Mushroom Neptune next time. If its rubbish I tell the manager it was recommended by an employee in the Victoria branch. He shouldn't be too hard to narrow down. ;) |

Re: Lunchtime Choices
I've just slapped a steak and kidney from Herringtons in Port Perry in the oven. 45 minute wait... a pal in the pub gave to me. Big things expected. Now, do I pair with mash or what?
Must look for that Jamaican lobster bisque; I've found the PC soups one of the rare disappointments in the PC Range though. |
Re: Lunchtime Choices
Cheddar, pickled egg and avocado sandwich. And a few crisps on the side.

I'd be tempted to have it on its own.
In the upright freezers with the lean cuisines and other single size ready made meals http://www.presidentschoice.ca/conte...420.margin.png Mine was reduced to $2.99, not sure from what. I basted some spuds with an olive oil/ hot sauce/ montreal steak spice mix. They turned out good but the pie was out of this world. #pieproblemssolved |
Re: Lunchtime Choices
No luck on the Lobster Bisque in the Richmond Hill Loblaws.
Does remind me of when Tescos went totally Rowley Birkin and tried to stock everything in every single flavour available.... and then no one bought it (or not enough people) |
Re: Lunchtime Choices
Went for pho', stewed beef rice noodle soup #47.
|
Re: Lunchtime Choices
Chicken paprikash, chips and corn.

Re: Lunchtime Choices
three rashers of crispy streaky bacon with a one egg omelet, topped with HP, mug of dandelion tea to wash it down

Re: Lunchtime Choices
Our local meat and everything else store sells many odds and ends.
Steak ends, for example, which are actually very good pieces of steak. But yesterday they had dollops (for want of a better word) of Mild Italian sausagemeat that hadn't been turned into Mild Italian sausages. Just a dollop in Styrofoam trays the same as the sausages would be. They make great sausage meat patties. I had one, with a fried egg and a hash brown pattie. Lurvely. |
