Actually looking at the bottom of the container it is Rubbermaid not Tupperware. HID came home last night with a set like this.

Apparently they're going allow "us" to eat more leftovers for lunch and less pub food or takeaways. :(

Rubbermaid is good. Looks like fairly normal containers though.

According to Stephan Fry on QI, Pumpernickel means "devil's fart".

I'd heard that it wasa mishearing of Napoleon saying that thr bread was ok for his horse to eat. "bon pour Nichole" or somesuch. Nichole was the hirse's name you see.

Haven't had pumpernickel in years. Any other recommended toppings (don't like kraut or mustard). The bread seems to overpower simple ham and cheese.

Maybe a spicy salami or some pickled tongue?

Definitely not the latter, but the former might work.

If you don't like the strong stuff try cream cheese and smoked salmon.

I had the rest of the devil's fart bread and pate, (the cat really thinks I'm eating his food), then wanted more so made a small order of chips and gravy. No adult supervision, that's my problem.
Then I had a plate of ham and brie and pickeled jalapenos and crackers, and when I burped it still tasted like kippers. That's some powerful stuff.

It's going to be a bacon sandwich. I got the smoker going out the back door and a kilo of thick sliced bacon held together with 4 kebab skewers over the hickory for almost an hour now, with a little syrup drizzled over it. I'm trying to replicate the double smoked stuff Ukrainian Co-op has. A bit later on I'll take the kilo of chicken parts I have brining and get them going in the smoker as well.

This warrants a photograph (as you know bacon is a BE obsession). :)

I'm having a bit of trouble with that, sent you a pm.
Er, email, it was an email. Ha ha.
There, I sent both, let me know if the pics don't come up. Thanks.

Looks like a good smoker and a big (!) slab of Canadian bacon...

Oh well, http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...nt=IMG1055.jpg
I wound up smoking 2 kg of bacon, (which came out really good), plus the chicken, now it's time to put that machine back in the basement.

Re: Lunchtime Choices

Call it a late lunch, I had smoked chicken and rice wth some chili garlic sauce on the side. Vodka tonix, beer. I sauteed it in a little olive oil while the rice was cooking because it doesn't cook through in the smoker so always needs to be finished off somehow. That chicken is #1 but the skin sort of gets tanned in the smoker, (way too chewy). It was a shame because I like chicken skin, so I advise discarding the skin first to avoid the downer. Absolutely delicious and that's the Giant Tiger's sale chicken parts @ $2.50/kg, half price and I only bought 3 bags, darn.

A mate of mine has a smoker that I use but we only do salmon. Today we had crudités with a roasted curry cauliflower dip that HID had seen on cradle tv. As a result, I'll be popping up the road to MacDoanlds for a little chicken nugget livener before tea.

One good thing about The Plains Hotel getting torn down is I'm not walking home pissed going past McDonalds. I'd need the pit stop and buy something, (usually) and always felt mildly poisoned the next morning.

Re: Lunchtime Choices

Having cable and so the Food Channel is changing what I do; this time I brined then put a spicy rub on the chicken for a day then a few hours in sauce before smoking it. After 2 hrs over mesquite I sauteed it and deglazed with bourbon. That worked pretty well. I threw some hot Italian sausages on the smoker at the same time, and sauteed the sausage chunks in the same pan after the chicken was done. It's good, the chicken is good cold with a ranch dip and I want to get some blue cheese dressing tomorrow and try that.
Lunch was spicy beef tacos, as predicted, and I may just have another with a little shredded cabbage and carrot.

Delivery pizza as I'm still on Christmas holidays. Just to add, this housework stuff is a doddle, press the button on the oven that says clean, go in other room as it's a bit smelly, drink beer and a play video game. I don't what HID is always moaning about.

Inspiring tweet from a pub I frequent when visiting London:

"We've got a beery beef casserole with rosemary & horseradish dumplings and a pint of ale for £10"

Would hit the spot at lunchtime. Shame I'm here and not there.:(

Sounds lovely, especially the dumplings, but spill the beans... which pub?

Two rounds of egg and lettuce sandwiches with the crusts cut off. Smokey bacon flavoured crisps, a few grape tomatoes and a nice large slice of raspberry cheese cake.
