Had it with this place - do not move here

For once I agree with you. And the salary one needs depends largely on the size of property and its location. But saying this, Greater Vancouver is extremely expensive wherever you live compared with salaries. It's safe to say I simply cannot to support a family on any income I'm likely to make here. My mortgage is very low because I bought over 70% cash. It's not the property that is expensive. It's all the many things that in BC at least are unpredictable. But when they hit you, they're massively expensive. By this I cite medical and dental expenses as being the very worst of all.
I am not used to compromising on the health of my family but in BC I am forced to. This is not only extremely uncomfortable, it also gives me the sense that I'm somehow selling out on the health of my kids. I simply don't believe people experience this in UK in the same way.
I would recommend families be on around 120-150k and this isn't necessarily comfortable. My regular bills are not excessive yet cost me $70k a year AFTER TAX. So I need to be earning $100k at least to pay that. Yet who pays that kind of salary here? The market has seen a 30% drop but bills continue to rise. This is the reality of living in BC.

Moving back to the UK should be considered as one of many options if their current location isn't working out for them, not the only one. Often, even moving within the same Province gives a much different experience, just like Butch is about to find out.

It happens to people who didn't look at the world so negatively. A positive mental attitude helps to overcome obstacles instead of running away from them.

Not really - I suppose lots of us are Facebook friends, (and also friends IRL) so we read about the goings on in each others lives everyday.
I will let Butch spill the beans on here if he wants to but suffice to say - he is going for a lifestyle change

But as for Butch, has he thought through the medical issues?

But thanks for the 'support' you two

Somewhere is another post where I mention the fact I'll be living about 2km from my nearest neighbour and about 12km from the nearest 'town' which has a population of 209.
