So I need to be earning $100k at least to pay that. Yet who pays that kind of salary here? The market has seen a 30% drop but bills continue to rise. This is the reality of living in BC.

Moving back to the UK should be considered as one of many options if their current location isn't working out for them, not the only one. Often, even moving within the same Province gives a much different experience, just like Butch is about to find out.
