I'm sure they do Iain, I'm sure do. I'm also sure it gives some of them a warm fuzzy feeling (and a feeling of 'power') knowing that they can have a go at people, edit posts, make threats etc all without any real fear that they will pulled up about it. Kind of like a mixed sex freemasons for cyberspace.

Actually it means that most of the time we have to bite our lips.

Like now for example.

Iain, Moderator = thankless task, damned if you do and damned if you don't.

It's xmas, so let's have some xmas spirit

Remember kids, (unfortunately) a troll isn't just for xmas, it's life

It's possible two like minded and disenchanted souls decided to post on the same thread. It's the same as two like minded but happy souls posting on the same thread. It does amuse me when people think there is some big conspiracy behind this type of thing.

I'm more than sure if it was the same user using multiple accounts that that the mods/admin would take a peek, if indeed they need to, it's possible they are running multiple account detection software, mainly to catch spammers, but it'll catch out those whom are creating multiple accounts for trolling, at which point it's very easy to hit the big red button and remove the users from the forum gene pool.

I'm sorry that the OP has had such a bad time of it. Immigration is rarely easy; little things sneak up on you and sometimes you can't even articulate what you are missing. I appreciate his desire to portray a less than rosy side of the process, and we all need to vent frustrations sometimes. I really do hope he and his family finds what they are searching for back in the UK.

That said, a country and its people don't cause depression, mental illness and the breakdown of a marriage. Immigration is tough, the stresses of adapting can perhaps be triggering, but 'Canada and Canadians' are not a cause.

Like other posts, I really feel the original OP. One of my boys was really depressed for the first year we were here ( and still is sometimes) and I sometimes questioned whether we had made the right choice or not. I agree that without regular and well paid work, it is hard to make ends meet. I started out on a minimum wage job and it kept our savings going by a little longer before I found something better paid.
OP - I hope that things sort themselves out once you return to the UK and that your children make a speedy recovery. Good luck.

Really? Our Vancouver office is in Richmond, it always seems very pleasant when I visit. Of course visiting is different from living. There were parts of London and New York too where I really wouldn't have wanted to live either.

Yeah it's like I had a couple of pints in a pub, went off for a babby, then returned to find a bar brawl. And it's all my fault . Someone else suspected I'm using multiple IDs here. I have retired my family one in favour of my personal one (C_C). So I'm not posting as anyone other than the Critic on this topic.

Of course it is. The trouble is that if you have preconceived notions about the locals based on the look of some of their faces, then it may be a bit challenging for the small mined.
