I suppose the GBP:CDN exchange rate is better today than it was back between March 2010 & June 2013?

Yeh I was a bit puzzled by this statement, thanks. I was looking and best we can get is 58 pee to the $ Canadian.

Not sure US$ is worth posting on a Canada forum, maybe add the Ausie $ just to add more confusion Lol

Does that not depend on if one still has money/assets in the UK? I always look at the GBP/CAD exchange rate.

Of course, lower GBP:CDN while you still have assets in or derive income coming from the UK, then you are not on the winning side if you live here :ohmy:

Hindsight is 20/20, playing the FX is not for the faint of heart IMO

Assets outside of the country that you live in or spend most of your time resident is a fools game/gamble :blink:

I made a decision after we sold the house in the UK last year (and did transfer the proceeds), not to transfer anything else I hold personally because it had been so stressful with the exchange rates and "trying to get it right" (because of course as I realize now, you never do). Obviously, Brexit was not on my mind at that time (perhaps it should have been).

For which situations? The collapse of the currency, the pending departure of branch-plant industry, the rise in street level racism, the disarray in both major parties, can hardly be attributed to the writings of mahvellous Julie Burchill.

I suppose the papers are somewhat culpable in not more vigorously exposing the Leave campaign's lies over finance and immigration and for allowing Boris to be portrayed as a lovable buffoon rather than a dangerous egomaniac but, in the end, it's the people who voted who made this stupid decision. It's not the BBC that shot the working public in the foot.

Of course the country will muddle on, few people will die over the decision, but it's no good pretending the British public was misled. The British public is simply stupid.

For now, this is why we live in Canada, nice, peaceful & calm with never any of those things.

I have lived through several financial swings & roundabouts, most before I had the internet. The papers used to wind me up no-end. I have since come to the realization I have little control & just sit back, wait till the storm blows over.

At my age, I don't get wound up or arsed about what goes on in the world of politics or financial markets, especially the crap what is spread across the media.

Post EU after the divorce, is that a 'the old style passport won't return', if so - what style 'post EU exit' do you see the British passport looking like?
