re: Great Britain's Future - post Brexit
Today (as opposed to yesterday) feels like the "morning after"...where the full impact of what's been decided has sunk in. I suppose one of many millions of Brits that actually enjoyed being an EU citizen, that saw that further layer of identity as something to be proud of (shared heritage, culture and future) rather than something to despise. I feel that forty years of progress has been ripped apart by an angry frustrated mob who have nothing better to offer.

Brexit expectations are about to meet reality. All the rest of us can do is stand well back from the imminent collision. |

re: Great Britain's Future - post Brexit
Too late to change thread titles now, we've all had our say so for better or worse it stays. ;)

re: Great Britain's Future - post Brexit
I thought the thread title was a brilliant portmanteau- wish I'd thought of it myself.
Looks like the EU is understandably going to make an example of the UK- or rather England and Wales. I see Scotland devolving so quickly they stay in rather than leave with the UK, secede and re-enter. NI is more interesting but it's a decade or so too soon for reunification. |
re: Great Britain's Future - post Brexit
Accidental portmanteau will do lol
Maybe we should have a vote, oh erm no maybe not |

re: Great Britain's Future - post Brexit
It's been a characteristic of the EU, and governments in general, that referenda have been something to ignore, but this one is different.
So there will be negociations. The problem, from the point of view of the UK man in the street, is that it will be attempted by EU loving beaurocrats and civil servants. Old Etonians who have never had a proper job, have lived in cotton wool and travelled in the plush lined gravy train. Like the Trump claim about how the US is run, the UK is likewise run by incompetent hangers on. Cameron couldn't get the EU to agree that 1+1=2 so what hope for Bojo? |

I went on a huge ****ing bender yesterday as I was so disgusted with Britain. My hope now is the EU does collapse. And in 3 or 4 years after Britain is on it's knees that they all get together and come up with a more streamlined organisation that focuses purely on trade and movement and leaves law making alone. Other than that in isolation Britain will continue the decline it has endured for the last 100 years and our immigration to Canada "for the children" will finally be justified. Right off to Hooters to sit on the patio. |
