Re: Go for it Harry marry Meghan.

I think anyone should be able to marry the person they're in love with, regardless of what their relatives are like. Even if organising the wedding ends up a nightmare. Choosing someone 'suitable' didn't work out very well for the PoW did it? I suppose what they were hoping for was something lower key, but still Royal, like Edward/Sophie (given the venue). I don't even remember watching that on telly, although it was apparently broadcast.

if my daughter married a Royal my other half would absolutely hate having to be so conspicuous. Her Dad didn't ask for any of this after all.

i shall still be watching, even if I do have to get up early.:britflag::bluecrown:

He was supposed to have had major heart damage after his heart attack last week. Yet the following day he drove to San Diego.

All the speculation...it’s like a soap opera.

Who cares one whit whether he goes or not?

The bride presumably.

CBC coverage starts at 4am  I’m not sure even I can manage tea and scones at that time of day. I knew I ‘d regret letting the butler go.

The odd thing is...I feel vaguely excited! I am not of a 'Royal' persuasion, and have never attended or waved a flag at any event...but perhaps because 'quite' so little happens here I am excited. It's sad if anything can make anything unhappy for the participants involved, but when I see a woman of colour marrying into our Royal family...wow..doesn't that send a positive sign to the rest of the world...it has a knock on effect and I think it's (awesome) inspirational and uplifting. Yeah us!

Imagine Mrs Windsor, the grandmother's reaction to this media event. Watch those eyeballs as they rotate upwards to disappear into those eyebrow ridges. Imagine the sigh, long, deep and heartfelt. Fear for those corgies as they scamper from the mistress should they get under the royal feet. Consider the uneaten roast swan returned to the kitchen blamed on poor appetite. Feel for the servants searching for places to hide. Imagine the sign outside Buck House, 'Americans keep out!'.

You can do a lot with animatronics, don't be fooled into thinking that the real Mrs Windsor will be attending the wedding, she'll be shaking her head, weeping in Queen Vic's tomb, wondering where it all went wrong.

The latest I heard on the 6 pm news was that Meghan's father was in hospital having tests and may be having surgery tomorrow morning (Wednesday)

What a mess!

Plus the ex-s-i-l and ehr 2 sons arriving in London to report on the wedding for ABC ................

that's all that was needed ...................

members of Meghan's family making money out of her

He is having surgery today, and I strongly suspect they will use that fact to say he is unable to attend, thus sorting it all out.

I get the sense that there is more media excitement about this wedding in the US/Canada than the UK?

It's on every news bulletin, the two major channels will be broadcasting from Windsor from about 8am on Saturday ,there have been programmes every night for the last few days, so yes, a major media event, people are already camping out on the route trying to get a spot as near to the church as possible, people with homes overlooking the route are renting them out for upwards of £2000 a night, so plenty of media coverage, and it's still 3 days to go.

Well there's always going to be the die-hard royalists camping out etc, and I have seen reference to it on the news, but it all seems kind of by-the-by. Although I have noticed more Union flags flying lately.
