Thank for posting this. It's not often that a news anchor poses such difficult questions. Yes we see some soft reporting but to see it as stark fact in rare.
I'm tempted to wonder what, if any, new policies will erupt from such statements.
After WW1 we had a cry 'Homes fit for Heroes' and as usual the reality fell short of the rhetoric but after WW2 we had the NHS and a Labour government pushed it through to become a beacon of equality.
This pandemic comes at a time when inequalities have never been more stark or more prominant and as usual it's those who have least who suffer most.
Will we, I wonder, witness any real attempt to stamp on the increasingly unacceptable face of greed at the heart of corporate institutions or will we continue to witness the curruption at the heart of our governments that continues to stoke social unrest?
This virus will inject an opportunity directly into the heart of government, will it grow or will the natural defences based on greed quietly put it to rest?

Another man the calibre of Tommy Douglas wouldn't hurt.

Let's put this to bad. Boris Johnson is a cad and who ever voted for the Conservative party with him as its leader are cads.

Hospitalizations are down a bit in BC and number in ICU dropped a fair amount, and with only 2 new deaths, seems most of the hospital drop has been people recovering and not dying.

34 new cases though.

858 have recovered of the 1,300 something cases in total.

BC Gov't once again telling people do not travel this weekend within the province and asking Alberta residents not to come.

I'm ashamed to say that I'd never heard of him, but a quick search online found this... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Douglas, and I agree the hour bringeth the man.
He'd not stay long in today's parliamentary society, his early support of eugenics would follow him on every media outlet and he'd never live it down, he'd become the story not his policies.
That being said he appears to have had the right ideas, apart from being religeous of course.

I think most people were initially skeptical that Johnson actually had the disease, many still are. Perhaps we'd believe it if it was written on a bus.

I must quietly admit that I did think that they might be pulling our leg...I kept my mould shut as I’m a Canadian now and they are meant to always be nice...

I didn’t think it for an instant with Prince Charles.

Surely it’s because history has taught us to have an inherent disbelief in all politicians, of every hue? Wouldn’t it be nice if we ever heard one say anything that we might actually believe...
