Re: Coronavirus
I normally keep a good supply of all sorts of things. Mum never ran out of things..always made sure she had a good supply of essentials and things we liked. I suppose that’s what living through WW2 did to her. A week ago I went shopping but only for bits and pieces. I have ordered some things to be delivered by Loblaws, sometime next week. Since Wednesday we have self isolated because I am at high risk, We go out several times a day for a walk by the lake, it is very quiet down there, but we keep our distance. We can also take a drive out somewhere and perhaps if it’s a very quiet location, get out and walk. Anything delivered will be sprayed best I can and stored in a downstairs room for several days, in the hope that any virus will be killed.
Our daughter arrived home from the UK last week. She is self isolating for 14 days along with her 5 yr old daughter. They live about 50 yards away. Just been stood chatting by her gate, while they stayed the other side of their patio door.

Walmart Canada following Galen Weston's lead.
From an email today:
From an email today:
- Finally, we will always be there for our 90,000 Associates. We’ve asked any Associates who isn’t feeling well to feel confident staying home and we will be there to support them.
- We initiated a new policy that provides additional financial support for Associates that are under mandated quarantine. Associates will be eligible to receive pay for hours scheduled to work during the two-week quarantine period.
- For our Associates who are not feeling well, we have flexible pay options and support so they can also choose to stay home.

Re: Coronavirus
I suspect Canada is a couple weeks behind the US, by end of the month I would guess we will see an explosion in numbers. Vancouver alone has dozen or so flights a day just from Seattle where 500+ people have it now, surely its at the airport spreading and being taken back to Vancouver at least a few times by now.
I am really worried about my mom, she and my nephew both work at the same casino but the casino has no plans to shut down, tribal sovereignty comes into the picture so state government can't force them to. My mom is high risk so I worry, but if she quits she can't collect unemployment and can't afford to not have income, tough situation for both of them.

Re: Coronavirus
People who do things like this should be heavily penalized. Some of this massive buying might not all be panic, people are taking advantage of the situation for their own gain. Stores of course can prevent this by limiting quantity, especially Costco with membership and tracking ability, 2 pack of toilet paper per week per membership. 2 packs should last most people over a month or 2.

Re: Coronavirus
9 more cases in BC, mostly centered around the same care home.
BC will be setting up testing locations, but stresses not everyone needs to be tested, and if your symptoms are mild to self isolate for 14 days.
"testing will instead focus on existing clusters, people in hospitals, health-care staff, and long-term care homes, along with anyone who exhibits serious symptoms."
"The minister asked people to not crowd those testing centres or area hospitals if they fear they’ve contracted the virus, saying people can self-isolate at home if they have mild illnesses."
