I agree, convenience isn't always what i am looking for either, if i was i would spend my time at Kelsey's, yuck!! and Wal-mart.

I prefer checking out places further afield, Yorkdale is the best mall as you said, and easy access, if it's not Xmas, as for food, IMO Danforth Avenue is the place to go, and a reasonable price.

I also spend plenty of time in that area, to much bloody time, and enough time in Toronto, at least 8-10 hour a day on the street 3-4 times a week, so i have the right to film a simple mall, a bus or two, a rib fest and say, this is a mall, a bus a rib fest ect.

WOW how hung up are you dude. Post a pic of the things you find good in TO, and stop moaning all the time. Also anyone with there "own" videos of Canadian life lets see it and get an overall view.

We will be in Ottawa in two weeks, so i will be filming there, even though i don't live there. Gosh is that guna be allowed.

Edit: I did take on board what you where saying last time, ive stopped filming all the bad parts, of which there are loads and i enjoy filming them more that the nice places. I have a 2min video of the St Martin in the fields, church of Canada, near Keele and Bloor, a hidden gem you must agree.
You continue to miss the point. I have no interest in posting pics, videos or anything else about TO. Personally, I can't see why anyone would - but hey as you said you are weird. It is your claim to be representative that troubles me. Of course you can film in Ottawa, just don't pretend you have some kind of understanding of everyday life there - this is where your (unintentional I suspect) arrogance comes through. I now think you seriously believe your rather sad movies offer some kind of generalised insight into life here - which they do not.
No, working with the Jane/Finch community is not the same as living there, but it does give me a hell of a lot more insight into the complexity of life there than doing a drive-by video and using wiki to reinforce stereotypes does. Rude? Yes, because I actually care about how this community is presented - which you do not. Your comment about the "bad parts" simply shows that you don't understand any of this. For me there is an ignorant, voyeuristic quality to your videos (enhanced by your recent account of how you film them) that I find distasteful.

You find my video distasteful, it was just filmed as is, nothing was staged, and there really was nothing bad in the film. (some one even commented on the channel and thought the bike parked against the no parking sign was funny). I filmed around the intersection area only, after i had spent 3 long day's working around that area, it was not a drive there film drive home video, thank you. Unlike the video i found that was produced by an actual so called resident.

As you work so close to the people there then that may make you more touchy about the Googled part of the film, gangs ect, but, they were not my words, so was it true or not. You tell me. Is that a good place to settle as a newcomer to Canada or not.

As i said, i changed the wording because i felt myself that you had a point, and it was unfair to judge from someone else's findings, the film is just film, if you drive there tomorrow, it is what you will see. It's NOT made up.

I am somewhat intrigued as to how these are benefiting potential immigrants. Have not seen any comment or reviews from these folk, would be interested to know what they think. It seems locals are less than impressed.

My contribution, a Canadian park....

Just out of interest, are you a defense lawyer.
I never said your video was made-up, but that it was a poor representation of everyday life - whether in the Jane-Finch area or elsewhere. Video is not an image nor mirror of reality, but more a representation of one person's perception. It is as subjective as any other account - distorted and filtered by the values you inevitably bring to bear on it. Your question about whether it is a good place to settle is a further example of how little you understand about the area and its community, and tells the reader/viewer more about you than it does about the community you are judging. Film is never just film. A basic course in video ethnography would serve you well.

I did consider interviews and suchlike. But elected not to as this would be too personal & time consuming.

We should just agree to disagree and move on. I thank you this time for not being as abusive as usual.

Yep, and quite high-tech. Unlike the shite, generic, "shopping centres" found in North America.

But the Trafford Centre is a "Mall".

If i were your friends, i'd be curious why you'd made the effort to move to such a shit hole, based on your videos.

If you mean Gerrard Square, that's the one I refer to (by local custom) as the Welfare Mall.

I'm surprised that Yorkdale Mall is the best in Toronto. I thought it was nothing special. Good job I've no spare cash to spend in malls.

Can't actually believe this thread is still going or that the OP is still around posting this nonsense.
