I think Ms. Goody had a pointless life and achieved nothing. I don't see though that hers in any more pointless than, say, Princess Diana's or Fred Goodwin's or Gordon Brown's. Very few people achieve anything of importance to anyone beyond their immediate families so why not thust fame and fortune upon some random bimbo?

It's hard to make a case that a footballer or a politician or a rich businessman is, in some way more deserving than the foul mouthed racist moron from the TV; people who want a hero to celebrate, someone on whom to project an image, may as well celebrate the life of Jade Goody as that of Jesus Christ.

She may well achieve more in death than she did in life (cancer awareness stuff).

The blatant commercialisation of her death is rather sordid but I can't honestly blame her for doing it. I'm prepared to believe that she really was doing it to secure her kids' future.

I have only just joined this site but I am shocked and saddened.
Reading through these posts there are some very sad nasty people of this site and thank god none of you are anywhere near me as a friend or a relative, some of the posts on here are from bitter twisted morons with no humanity whatsoever…I did not particularly like Jane Goody but she said what she though be it cringeworthy or stupid without a moments thought and did not give a toss what people thought, these were her own thoughts unlike the PMs media celebrities and the like who have all there words made for them by some spin-doctor, I know who I would trust the most.
Jane Goody had to tell her kids the night before that their mommy was going away for ever.
I just hope some of the those nasty y spiteful posters on here can start a thread if their mother or wife or daughter dies from this horrible disease so we can all have a great big belly laugh.
Some sad people in this world.

I've been trying to remember the name of a young girl from Tameside, Gtr Manchester (where I used to live), who having been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, spent the rest of her (short) life raising money to buy a scanner for the local hospital. I finally found a newspaper article

http://www.tamesideadvertiser.co.uk/...3457_the_1990s

What a marked contrast to the way Ms Goody conducted herself during her last few months.

In defence of the bitter and twisted, we did at least spell Ms. Goody's name right.

Thank you for saying that. I don't think even the most "nasty y spiteful" posters on here would make light of cancer.

Jade Goody donated £100,000 to children in India plus ongoing money to help, plus big donations to cancer charitys etc plus £1 from each sale of her perfume goes to cancer charity it so can hardly be said she never did anything, A lot more than most people slagging her off do for charity id have thought.

Also all the tax she has paid over the years will have found its way back into the system.

Like has been said before, I defy anyone with a terminal illness to turn down big money to help their kids future!!

I rather think the money paid to children in India was perhaps "guilt" money. I agree, certainly, regarding the opportunity to make money to safeguard the future of her kids.....I would probably have done the same in that situation. I also think she should have been more concerned about how her lifestyle, prior to the cancer diagnosis, was affecting her kids.

All this rubbish about her "bravery" and "courage", I feel, is innapropriate.......I know many people who live with cancer, and other equally dreadful illnesses, and just get on with their lives quietly and with dignity, and without the publicity that she so clearly sought. My criticism is also levelled at those who hold her up as some sort of heroine, making her into something she most certainly was not. At this rate she'll be canonised....it's gone way too far.

I have noticed...sad lives or what why go on and on about a dead person who has done nothing to you and have not changed your lives one iota, I have a theory about people who get so wound up with other people and start posting horrible abuse and it was mentioned on radio 4 a while back when they were talking about anger management…it is because the person themselves are it a bad relationship or are angry how their own particulars lives are that they have to let their emotions and frustrations on internet forums instead of verbally abusing the spouse, they called it “internet fury” and looking at this thread there are a few unhappy people out there.

I haven't reread all the posts but, from memory, you're the only one posting anything terribly hostile. Pot, kettle, innit?

Jane Goody was no saint and it was the media as usual that mad her into some kind of icon and I guess 90% of people would have taken the chance to earn that kind of money for being a bit loudmouthed and slow.
I just believe love her or hate her a bit of empathy and respect should be shown to anyone who has died, it just makes me cringe to read some of the posts on this thread.
Most people who have had cancer have to be brave and put on a brave face for their family and loved ones but I just think it takes a certain type of person to come onto an internet chat room and say the things that I have read about a dead person, it says more about the poster than it does about Jade Goody.
