Thanks
You know, a quick search of the forum would have given you the answer to this - and a clue about the fact that most people do not like this subject at all. It is effectively discussion about obtaining visas by deception. Obtaining state sponsorship without intending to honour their obligations is disgusting. Not just that, it's also taking places from genuine applicants that want to live, work & contribute to that state. If DIAC wanted to, they'd be well within their rights to cancel any visa obtained in this way, and quite frankly, that is something I bloody hope comes soon. That's the good thing with the introduction of the fraud PIC last year - anyone caught giving false information will be barred from applying for a visa for three years.

But unfortunately it is still only a moral obligation not a legal requirement. So to the OP, yes it is possible, and no there aren't any restrictions or complications to 'your friend' leaving his sponsoring state before the end of the required two years.

the rules change soon to make it a legal requirement or loss of visa.

Oh I know. Which is why I said if they'd done a search, they'd have found the answer. I agree - I do hope that they start enforcing it. It's preposterous that people are allowed to get away with it.

The fact that I found 10 threads to merge within the last couple of months all asking the same question shows how common an issue it is too

It's definitely worrying just how common it is now

Whether you like it or not, it is breaking sponsorship terms, and obtaining a visa by deception. You might not have any moral issue with it, but some of us do.

Live and let live is fine, but the answer will always be the same. There is a moral obligation to live and work in the sponsoring State.
Reason for merging the threads........? Four out of the top seven threads at that point were all asking the same question, what annoys me most at present is that no-one looks for the answer, they just keep asking the same question over and over again

No, not yet. Still doing what I should be doing - waiting nice & patiently for my turn in the queue (the way Brits are meant to).

Doesn't look like that "moral obligation" means too much, to far too many.

They should put State sponsorship on the same footing as a 457. If you want to move State then find another State sponsor. If you can't hack it in your original State and can't find another sponsor... then leave.

I completely agree. They need to start thinking about whether they want dishonest people there anyway. I know I wouldn't be happy employing someone who lied to get a job. It should be the same for state sponsorships. If you don't honour it, revoke visa & ban for 3 years under the fraud PIC.

Wow seems to be taking a very long time; I have seen that PR apps can take 18 months just to get looked at now Took us 6 years to get PR from getting all the right work experience for the TRA then going the TR route cos not enough points for PR straight off, then all the hoops to jump thru with TR restrictions not to mention no benefits (altho thank god for reciprocal healthcare we Brits are luckier than most!!). Worth it tho. Hope you get yours soon.

Thank you Yeah, it's been a while, but it'll be all the sweeter when it comes to fruition. P5 is starting to move more now, so I'm quite 'glass half full' about it.
