Wrong. I'm not there (and not affected by SS) but it is still wrong to lie to get a SS. Interesting that you try and make not wanting to abuse the immigration system as selfish. I think you'll find taking a place without the intention of honouring it is rather more so.

No-one can say unless they are in the situation themselves if they would move or not even though they are breaking their moral vow.
Actually some of us can. I would rather leave the country (or in my case, wait another few years, for my visa to come up legitimately), rather than cheat the system. We recently discovered that my husbands' profession is on one SMP. We could stick a new application in. We won't though. We have no interest in living in that state, and so would not take the places from someone who does want to live there. It may take a while yet before our visa is looked at. We've been waiting over 2 years, and it will probably be quite some time yet (being priority 4). We're okay with that. At least I know that places in that state won't be taken by us. It's not a difficult decision to make.

DIAC will continue to tighten VISAs up when there is a recession.
You think DIAC are only tightening things up because of the recession?

Think about that logically. As you, yourself pointed out:

They will make VISAS benefit Students when they are receiving 15k a year for a TAFE course that costs $3k for a resident to do
Students paying that much & they have limited work rights = win - win for the government. That kind of extra income would be fantastic in a recession.

So, why did the government clamp down on student visas? Could it possibly be the fact that the route was being abused?

Simple answer, yes. The same thing will happen to SS. All because a select group decide that they are above the rules. So people who are/were willing to play by the rules end up without a route into Australia, or at least a significantly more difficult one.

Could you also please email Chris Bowen and seek his views on why his department is allowing this convicted criminal to enter Australia and undertake employment here.

Many convicted criminals are eligible for visas - in fact i think you will find there are a large number that use this forum.

I have no problems with convicted criminals entering or leaving any country, as long as they have paid their debt to society first.

Default Work in a state other than sponsoring ?

Hello All,

If I have a job offer in a state other than the state which sponsored my 176 visa, is it possible that I move and work in this state before my initial 2 years are finished ?

Thanks in advance.

According to your other thread you have not even lodged the 176 visa application yet. But already you have secured a job in a different state? Why not apply for a job in your sponsoring state instead? Or will the company sponsor, otherwise they are going to be waiting a while for a start date from you.

Anyway your question has been asked zillions of times and is one of the most irritating questions there is, use the search function.

The State is sponsoring you. If you don't want to live and work there you shouldn't be accepting their sponsorship, but should let the place go to someone else more committed.

I didn't say that I will not go to my sponsoring state.
I am just asking to see the viability of this from a legal perspective.

As im aware, legally you are not obliged to live AND work in the sponsoring state however, morally i think that its only right to.

Default 176 visa obligation issue

Hi All,

I came to AU with 176 visa SA SS. I attended in a session of SA they said "Legally you can work anywhere in AU but you have a moral agreement to stay here for 2 years" Then I talked to presenter that I am not getting any job in my profession here but I have a job offer from another state, can I move there? The presenter said you can go. But this is only verbal confirmation and they will not give any written or e-mail confirmation.

In that case if I move, will it impact to me on govt facilities later or during citizenship application?

Please advice.

Thanks.

It should not effect anything. You are free to go. One day, they might make it a "Legal Obligation", but not now.

Thanks.

If later it is a legal obligation, then will I be effected?

Question Switching States...SA to NSW

I got PR under subclass-176 for South Australia in Nov-2011.
If i won't be able to find a job in Adelaide, Can I move to other state to search for Job?
How can i switch to another state (NSW) if i succeed in finding a job in Sydney?
What are the rules & regulations?

Thanks
