If you are unable to find work in Victoria then you should discuss the matter with the State Sponsorship body. Posters have done this in the past and if they have been able to prove that they cannot find work within the State then the State may well be willing to release them from the obligation so they can find work elsewhere.
The State won't expect you to stay with them if there is no work, but as they have extended a Sponsorship offer to you, the right thing to do is to communicate with them about the problem.
This is of course rather different from just leaving to work elsewhere.

Hi
I have obtained my 176 PR recently sponsored by QLD. It seems that the job market has changed as I found out that there are much more job opportunities in WA and less in QLD matching my skills and experience.
I have worked in Building construction industry which seems to be very active in WA. As far as I understand, building construction industry is almost on hold in QLD. Living in Qld has been a dream for me but it seems that I have to change my destination and go to WA.
What is the procedure to do that ? should I write to QLD and WA both as well as DAIC ?
Please share your experience with me. I have not entered Australia yet.
Looking forward to receiving your advise.
Regard

By the looks of your previous posts, you applied (or were looking to apply) for SA & ACT, and was trying to decided which one would process you faster.
So, I guess you found your 'fast sponsor' then. Never mind the people that will lose places in Queensland that actually would have fulfilled their obligations, or Queensland that have sponsored you in the hope of using your skills.

Despite the fact that Queensland has had the crap kicked out of it by cyclones etc, there are no construction jobs anywhere in Queensland? Wow. I must have imagined the 1676 jobs that just came up on a search for construction in Queensland on Seek (more specifically, 145 jobs for 'site engineer' - which you stated was your job in a previous thread).

Anyway, I would be much more happy if I secure a job in QLD rather than WA. QLD is still my first choice.

Thanks for your reply. You are absolutely right. There are lots of job opportunities for civil engineers in Queensland but most of them relates to infrastructure and rail jobs. I am a site engineer but worked in building projects and as you know employers prefer to hire professionals with relevant skills and experience.

(p.s. I just altered the search on Seek to 'building site engineer', and it came up with 160 jobs).

Doubt if any of us have got the "experience" of what you're planning to do as soon as you got your visa- no construction jobs in Queensland yeah right!!- so you might just have to find a way through this yourself- do let us know how it goes though

If you haven't even entered Australia yet and you contact the authorities and tell them you intend to break the terms of your visa before you have even got here you may well be at risk of having your visa cancelled.
