Re: June 2009 Visa Applicants
Great news that grant letters are being started to be issued to Pakistanis. However all those who got grants belong to computing professions. Are DIAC only issuing grants to computing professionals or to all those waiting from May & June'2009.

Updated Priority Processing Arrangements for Skilled Migration Visas - Effective from 14 July 2010
The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, has set new priority processing arrangements for certain skilled migration visas. These arrangements take account of the changes to the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) that came into effect on 1 July 2010, as well as the revocation of the Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) and the Critical Skills List (CSL). These priority processing arrangements apply to applications already lodged with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, as well as to future applications.
From 14 July 2010, processing priorities (with highest priority listed first) are:
1. Applications from people who are employer sponsored under the ENS and the RSMS.
2. Applications from people who are nominated by a state or territory government agency with a nominated occupation that is specified on that state or territory’s state migration plan.
3. Applications from people who have nominated an occupation on the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) – Schedule 3 in effect from 1 July 2010.
(175 CSL cases which are also on SOL have moved from P4 (old) to P3 (new)
See: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...ccupations.pdf
4. All other applications are to be processed in the order in which they are received.
* *All other applications – priority group 4: Applicants with a nominated occupation of Computing Professional (nec), Hospital Pharmacist and Retail Pharmacist, who have already been allocated a case officer, will be contacted directly by their case officer to advise processing arrangements.
http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charter.../visas/8.0.htm
Processing times – GSM applications affected by processing priorities
P3(new):175/176: Applications lodged prior to 1 July 2010: finalized by 31 December 2011
By going through the above latest changes of priority processing & estimated processing times, following points emerged and need further discussion and feedback from the members:
1. All pre 1st July,2010 cases belonging to new SOL fall under P3 and would be finalized by 31 December 2011 ( It is assumed that cases would be processed as per lodgment date and it includes all cases from post Sep’07 to 30 June,2010)
2. Prior to 14 July’2010 changes 175 CSL cases were in P4 and almost all of them have been assigned to Cos and were in advance stages now they have equal priority with other old pre 1 July,2010 175 non-CSL cases ( which are also on new SOL)
3. Cases of computing professionals (NEC) are not in P3 but special instructions are there that Cos would directly contact with them for processing arrangement. What does it mean is not yet clear? But recently about 6 175/CSL/computing professionals (NEC)/ May’09 & June’09 applicants from Pakistan got pre-grant & grant letters. Some of them had already front-loaded PCC/Medicals, some were asked around Nov-Dec’09 to provide PCC/medicals and one of them was asked to provide PCC/medicals on 2 July’2010. Pakistanis CSL applicants were waiting form May’09 and this is really good news for them. But important thing is that all of 6 cases belong to computing/nec. Non of other occupations ( old CSL: Accountants,Engineers, etc now on new SOL too) have been approved. Although they too belong to May’09 & June’09. So next coming months would indicate whether this cool breeze of grants is just for computing professions(nec) of Pakistani cases or this could also benefit other s ( old CSL and now on new SOL: Accountants,Engineeers, etc)
