So on 5th May 2013 you can apply for a PIO card; you could already have got a 1-year X (actually Lee I thought you got one).

AndyD

P.S. No hang on - I think you need a 1 year X to get the PIO card!

Very smart the pair of you.

After getting the visa in May 2012 it told me to register within 15 days.
Went to the lady officer who shouted at me for having the 5 x HOW YOU GET THIS. We didn't get on at all, so I thought f... it, just go for a short holiday twice a year till I get P.I.O.
Marias never had a holiday ever, so a trip round Everest, and a submarine in Maldives is a treat for both of us.

Will reapply her UK visa in May.

Lee, as all our Indian relatives live in India, I have quite a lot of experience over the decades with visas for UK. It has become easier over the years but with changes to the Border Agency this month who knows?

You MUST have a sponsor in the UK.
(This requirement only dropped if you are part of a group package tour staying in a hotel, and then if you take time out of the tour you need a sponsor).

The simplest way seems to be to use a reputable travel agent for your RETURN tickets, rather than on-line booking. They will help with visa form and will provide a standardised sponsorship form for you to fill in and get signed.

Thank you for your kind reply. Its all in hand, also my son is a Bollywood producer, he is giving the sponsor letter, but the main problem was me,
they said I didn't live in Goa, that is now solved with Advocates sworn letter.

Anyway, this time its BELT AND BRACES. will let you know.

Directive at VFS Bangkok, don't know if this will apply elsewhere :

"Within effect from 22/01/13 onwards all applications need to filled address of place of stay/hotel in India on application form. Hence the India Embassy request to attach the booking flight and booking hotel to apply all the visa" (sic)

This was supplementary to the standard question on the application form, they really did know where you were going to stay. If you didn't know they wanted an explanation.

I didn't have to sign one of those "Sole Purpose" forms declaring I am a tourist only and not owning property...........

I did have to write to the Consul about my whereabouts in India and why I didn't have a hotel booking confirmation receipt.

I spoke to someone else today who had to fill the same form......

I understand this is specific to Thailand,

How can they expect you to show evidence of flight out of India when you`ve just flown from india to Thailand with a return to India!!
