Hi a_f_d and thankyou for your help.
Must admit i am a bit confused..there is no "re-entry to Thailand" stamp on the visa..and in very small print it says there is a mandatory gap of 2 months between 2 visits...:confused:

I think, unless your visa IS "endorsed" as the VFS website indicates:

In such cases the visa will be issued with a permission to re-enter into India from the specific country (city), which allows the applicants to re-enter into India without a GAP of Two Months from their last exit date.

you may have a problem.

As a_f_d states, I'd expect the visa to have been 'rubber stamped' (in GREEN) "re-entry WITHIN 2 months permitted from Thailand" - it may even quote a specific city in Thailand that they 'expect' you to be arriving from.

Before you leave Goa for Thailand, I would be contacting VFS ([email protected] - this email address works but might be useless to you as you got your visa in Thailand & not the UK) to get the situation clarified, following which they might refer you to Panjim or Delhi - others may chime in to advise you far better than I on this.

Well thankyou both so much for all the trouble and time you have taken to reply it is appreciated...i think all we can do is send a few emails and see what response we get....but it does seem crazy to have a double entry and not to be allowed back for 2 months! :frown:...never mind. Thanks again.:thumbsup:

re-read my previous post.
You have a dual-entry visa - since it is not endorsed for a particular country you should be OK re-entering from any neighbouring country - just as you would be on a multi-entry visa.

For tourist visa 6 months double entry that mean you can go to India 2 times but 1 time and 2 times you have to wait 2 months gap before you go back to India again

I think they are trying to say that after you have been to India twice you have to wait two months before going again (imho you also need another visa then).
The only real arbiters in this are Immigration and they are likely to let you in twice on a double entry visa - they may not, they may not let you in at all but there's nothing you can do about that so stop anguishing and just go. Ask the Immigration officer on the way in - in my experience they are now fully au fait with the rules.

So you think ask the immigration officer on the way back in?..or do you think i should ask on the way out?
I have been looking for an email address for the consulate in Dehli but can't seem to find it anywhere..i though email them and see what they say:confused:

Ans. : The gap of two months between two visits would apply to all Tourist Visa holders.


Q.2 : Whether the gap of two months between two visits would apply irrespective of the duration of stay in India during the previous visit ?

Ans.: The intention behind the stipulation of a gap of two months between two visits on a Tourist Visa is to curb the abuse/misuse of the Tourist Visa. With a view to ensure that the genuine tourists are not affected by the recent guidelines, the following clarifications are furnished:


(I) Foreigners holding Tourist Visas, who after initial entry into India plan to visit another country largely on account of neighbourhood tourism related travel and re-enter India before finally exiting, may be permitted two or three entries, as the case may be (need based), by the Indian Missions/Posts subject to their submission of a detailed itinerary and supporting documentation (ticket bookings). If they are already outside of their country of origin, they can also get such an endorsement from the nearest Indian Mission/Post.


(II) The Immigration authorities in all the Immigration Check Posts may also allow such foreign nationals on Tourist Visas arriving in India without the specific authorization from the Indian Missions/Posts to make two or three entries into the country (need based) subject to production of an itinerary and supporting documentation (ticket bookings).


(III) The total period of stay in the country counted from the date of first entry into the country shall not exceed the stay stipulation period of 180 days or 90 days, as the case may be.

mea culpa - I am so used to referring people to the official source that I just assumed I had done so in this case.
Note that the 'endorsement' mentioned in the final sentence of #I (let's call it #Ib) is not clearly distinguished from the 'special permission' in #V and anyone applying for a type Ib endorsement is likely to be refused because they do not meet the conditions for type V. The best advice therefore seems to be to use the discretion route on a multi-entry visa - #II.
Implementation of #Ia took some time to 'clarify' but double and triple-entry visas now seem to be generally issued in these cases.

some friends of ours were not let back in from Thailand until they had done the two months out because they had a multiple entry visa, they were told they should have had a double entry visa.
