Just been to London visa office today to try for Entry visa with all the documentation that has been recommended on the site and they passed us from one officer to another, We have registered deeds etc but in the end we saw the Manager who told us in no uncertain terms that their instructions are that foreigners can only have a tourist visa for 6 months even if you do own a property. They didn't look at the files that we took with us and gave us the option of a refund or a tourist visa. What can You say to that, we had spent enough on getting there from the North so had to accept the tourist once again.
Did you have the MHA 'Powers delegated to FRROs' paper to show them? Or the VFS email which I have posted in a couple of places? Anyway you could have insisted that they pass your application forward. Strange that London VFS should know less than Birmingham about this. AndyD 8-(₹ |
Re: Visa help.
Yes we took a copy of the FAQ and read it too them as they just wouldn't look at any documents, their answer was that they thought that was an old version of what was available 18 month or so ago the rules have now been changed. The manager did suggest that we could email the High Commission to ask them but I have tried emailing a couple of times but not yet had a reply to one of them.

Normally the following phrase/sentence has worked for me: "yes, yes, well just submit my application please & let's see what happens" - certain members of VFS staff DO NOT like this approach BUT without exception in the past what VFS have told me will NOT happen, has happened. H. |

Just wondered, with Lincolnshire listed as your location, I am surprised that given their love of "the rules innit" that VFS did not say that you must apply to Birmingham as per the VFS jurisdiction list.

H. The fact that they stated 6 month Tourist only, shows they were bullies talking out of their ars*s, |
Re: Visa help.
My son has a business visa as he went to Kerela for his company a few weeks ago, would he still have to get a tourist visa to go to Goa on holiday or will they let him in on the business visa. Anyone know?

Re: Visa help.
Thanks for your input guys, last year my other half was told by Birmingham that if we had been given x visas in London we would be better applying there for the next one but when we got that was in the days of the visa's being issued by the High Commission and you could actually get to see someone who had a look at the paperwork and reviewed your situation. We did ask the manager we spoke to if they could pass on our documents for consideration at the HC but he said it wasn't their job to do that only to process the visa applications and that if we wanted to contact the HC it was up to us. I did ask if he had been asked by other foreigners for an entry visa and he said "No" as you say talking out of his a##e.

Re: Visa help.
VFS Birmingham
Went to the new office last week. Parking not too bad along Vicarage Road and office easy to find. Location is not far from Botaniccal Gardens and is well served by buses from town centre. Had made an appointment and staff were pleasant and polite and we were in and out within 10 minutes. That must be a record!!!!!!! |
