UK RIOTS
#451
Me too but there are always going to be disaffected people who seeing anyone with more that they have will be envious and take what they do not have. Having had my home violated by thieves for the second time earlier in the year I really do not feel sympathetic towards the rioters and looters.

Did you come here to join in the discussion on 'UK RIOTS' Sally - or just for the purpose of getting personal and critical?
If you don't like it on here, there are lots of other threads on lots o other forums which may be more to your taste.
The topic is 'UK RIOTS' - try making a constructive comment on the topic instead of picking on people.

Have you noticed that 99% of our new "friends" have made more posts than our beloved Mitzy
Do you see any reason now to keep this thread going, now that the Riots are over?

I think you're right Noni, it was a very emotive subject and latterly it has become quite personal; enough is enough! Why not close this thread and lets hear something positive about something, anything infact!

I don't see where I have been personal or critical.
I think you are overstepping your remit as a moderator.
Oops just seem you are a concierge, the comment holds as I don't see that you can order people around.

maybe your right , but i guess it shows good insight into the fact none of us have the answers to the issue and we have all jumped on the bandwagon of sarcastic remarks and snipes ,no differnt to what happens in westminster when they cant come up with the answers either .Its a good subject and one worthy of discussion , unfortunately i must agree with you and like many others hope the problems go away of their own accord ,which is unlikely .................

Ideas and theories are there to be tested. That is what discussion is, otherwise it's just small talk over a glass of sherry.
It is true that sometimes people become emotionally attached to their ideas, so they take it personally when someone picks them apart and points out pieces that don't hold water. However, that picking apart isn't rude per se - unless one is having sherry with one's maiden aunt, etc. How are we to generate sound ideas and get the best answers if we don't discuss, debate, test, and throw out the stuff that doesn't hold up to examination?
The worst insult is silence - an idea that's so dull that no one bothers to respond at all.

Notting Hill Carnival will be robustly policed.
Let us hope the rioters keep away, so that the revellers can enjoy the day.

I came on here because I thought you were being very unfair to fatbrit telling him what he could or could not say.

No more to be said as far as I am concerned, so back to the topic in hand which I believe is UK Riots...
Anyone else got any ideas for a resolution of the civil unrest?
